The Twisted Alley

This is definitely not a place where you want to be after dark: it is the sector where beggars, cripples, lepers and other outcasts scrape a living. The crumbling slums are surrounded by alleys so narrow that they are almost tunnels. It is a real maze and you hope you do not get lost. Here, the stench of death, fear and desperation is overpowering.

Soon it becomes impossible to distinguish what constitutes the Twisted Alley and what is just a secondary alley. You stop dead when you arrive at a fork. One of the three branches continues straight ahead but becomes even narrower and darker. Another, slightly wider, appears to lead to the port of the city, northwards. The last one, to your left, is a crooked stairway that goes up.

You may choose to take the dark alley ahead, or go toward the port, or take the stairway to the left. If you are not feeling confident enough, you can go back to the Sartosa plaza.
