How the old woman got up the tree is a puzzle: she must have been escaping someone fearsome to climb so high. "What are you hiding from?" you cry.

"Damned Elvins," she replies. "I were travellin' from Humpus to th' Outpost Settlement in Analland, but I were waylaid by Elvins. Robbed me blind – all but took my eyes! – and left me up th' tree. I keep getting older, you see. We all do, but some worse than others. Climbed up, but now I'm too old to get down!"
