Male Adventurer

You are a male adventurer, sitting at a reasonably well-off inn in Elmondsville. They have the necessities, such as food, drink, and bed, but little more. The inside is built of slightly worse than average wood, and the lighting is dim with no windows, but it is free, so why not partake? Just after you've finished your morning meal, the owner, a large, stout man walks towards you. With an exasperated look on his face, he says quietly:
"Hey bud, I know this place is free, but you gotta go out sometime. The Explorer's Union only provides so much for you."
You've hardly a cent to your name, with only flexible leather armor including a helmet, and a sword. The local smith was out a shield, which kept you out a business. You spent the last of your coin reserving a shield from the smith, with no way to regain your funds. Your saving grace was this place, and now you have to leave?
