After a brief, heated argument with your parents in which your father called you a whore and proceed to declare that you were "cut off" and would receive no more of their money, you decided it was best to leave and never come back. You called an Uber and told the driver to take you to your friend's house. Halfway there, you realized that you had no way of paying the driver, as your (read: your parent's) card had been removed from your Uber account. Simultaneously, your driver got a notification on his phone that informed him of that as well. He pulled over and pushed you out of his car (breaking your phone in the process), quickly driving away before you could even shout an insult at him.
You muttered under your breath in anger as you examined your phone's shattered screen, and then yelped when you heard six gunshots fired in quick succession not far off. You looked around and realized that not only were you nowhere near your friends house, you were in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in all of Los Angeles: Compton.
