Both you and Maara are led into the biome for a brief neutral period. There are no spells allowed to be cast, though anyone can start as close or far as they want to the other - below you is the river, flowing harshly south, that snakes through the circular biome - a large thing that will not allow you passage outside. To the east of the river is the desert, and to the west is the forest. As it stands, you know this is your first test, and you do not have a huge array of spells under your belt, though you do have talent and power. Inside of you is a burning spell so powerful it was suggested to never be used. Aside from fire spells, you know some of the basics - mending, telekinesis, not necessarily things useful in a duel. You also know a lightning spell, and shield.

Most witches, even those not of the academy, tend to know some spells outside their own element, although you do not know much. It is a weakness, but you hope to make up for it with your other skills. You are being watched outside of the biome in a wide circle of judges from the academy.

Maara is across from you, fifty meters away on her broom - hardly any time to close with a broomstick, but this is not a punching battle. You know Maara is of the Ground, and so being in the desert may not be the smartest. In the air, you can throw fire at ease away from the ground, though in the forest, your fire still has an advantage. You have only a moment before the duel begins, and you have to decide where you want to wage this duel. Here in the air, or in the forest.
