You are a bit disappointed that your children don't want to spend time with you. It is not the end of the world, though; it is the first day away from home where you all see each other all the time. As far as Cate is regarded, you will have plenty of time to catch up.
You didn't make any plans to be as flexible as you could. But hey, you are on a cruise ship. Why not take the opportunity to watch the sea while the weather is still mild? You go upstairs onto the deck. Only a few people are on deck; you assume the passengers have similar plans like your family. You rest your arms onto the railing and stare towards the horizon. Ah, how relaxing - only now you realize how stressful your daily routine is.
At some point, something draws your eye. A couple of hundred yards abeam, a large fluke rises and lashes into the surface. A whale!
"Amazing, isn't it?" you hear a voice next to you. A brunette woman leans against the railing just next to you; she accompanied you without you even noticing. Something about her face seems familiar. Have you seen her before? If you didn't know it better, you'd swear that you know her from a TV show. But why would a successful actress, even if less prominent in the recent years, be on a cruise? Wouldn't she just charter a yacht if it were really her?
The resemblance is striking, though. The woman looks just like the actress. Even her voice sounds like you remember it.
