Not wanting to alert him to the fact that your spirit is not as broken as he might want to believe, you comply with his request and seat yourself at the end of the table, directly opposite him with the entire table in-between. he's on a heightened chair looking down at you. This setup was definitely designed to intimidate people and you can't deny that it's effective.
You lower your eyes and wait while he takes the time to take you in. You resist the urge to massage your sore legs and just sit there quietly, acting submissive. After a long awkward silence, he gets up and beckons you over. You rise, suppressing apainful grimace at the feeling of your cramped legs and walk over to him with your slow little steps.
