"Great," Janine said and returned to her preparations and you left her to watch some TV.
After an hour you heard doorbell. That meant your mother-in-law has arrived. From the hallway you could hear greetings of your wife, so you went there to greet Patricia. As expected she was alone. That was the best news for you for the last couple of months (which shows how much you loved your father-in-law) and your mood immediately raised.
"Hello," you said.
"Hello, dear," Patricia answered with a big smile (looks like you are not the only one with good mood without Neil).
After some meaningless chat you all went to the dining table. At first your wife asked only about the other family members, but after half an hour and a bottle of red wine conversation turned right to the main subject.
"So, mother, how is dad," Janine asked.
"Like always, dear." Patricia sighed. "After a quarrel, I just decided to have some fresh air," she smiled. " I hope I hadn't made any problems to you."
"Of course, mom," Janine hastened to assure, "you can live here as long as you want. Right, dear," Janine said to me and hit my ribs with elbow.
"Of course," you said and blushed on how passionate it happened. Janine didn't notice anything but Patricia looked straight at you so you had had to look away.
"Good," Patricia said and sipped some wine. Then after minute of silence she added, "Because I wanted to try something new." And you blushed some more.
"Mom!" Janine jumped.
"It's such a figure of speech." Patricia smiled.
