Away from the city

You drive away from Damascus, figuring there will be fewer military and police away from the city, and more places to hide. From the western suburbs of Damascus, you continue in a westerly direction.
You're going to have to decide where to go. You can go northwest towards Lebanon, or southwest towards Israel. Lebanon is the place of your birth, and you know parts of it well. Then again, you left the country when you were a little girl, and large parts of Lebanon are now controlled by hostile terrorists. Israel, on the other hand, is friendly territory. However, because of the constant tension between Syria and Israel, the border will be heavily guarded.
The Jeep is paused at the rusty stop sign at the lonely intersection. An animal cries off in the distance. You hear another car coming up behind you. You don't want to draw any attention to yourself for stopping too long.
