You grab the telephone and punch in 9-1-1.
"9-1-1 what is your emergency?"
You talk brisk and loud. "Please help me. I woke up in an alley bruised and beaten and I lost my memory. I do not know who or where I am or what has happened to me. The number on the pay phone says 212-xxx-xxxx."
The woman goes silent for a long moment. "Do not worry, we are sending someone and they will be there in a few moments."
She hangs up. You feel a surge of panic. What if you had broken the law or something? What if you are a criminal? Or what if you're someone important? A million thoughts plague you.
