You figure, "Nah, I did my job, I got rid of the problem by getting rid of the forest, now the spirits can't lure in anymore foolish adventurers! Problem solved." And so it was for the spirits were pretty much harmless since they were stuck in that temple (until that sorcerer opened the temple and used the spirits to suck the life force out of all the nearby villages.) But, again, that's not your problem. Seriously, who woulda thunk that your mission would've been so easy.
You go back into the city and collect your reward from the mayor and spend it on hookers and blow. You quickly run out of hookers and blow and money to spend on such things so you get a job at the local prune-shoppe. It's not an easy job but you eventually earn enough to retire early. You move to the mountains to live alone and die peacefully.
