When he asks for a different job, the master just pushes him and tells him to get back to work. It is just so hot for him and he’s still only 4 years old. He’s looked after by Lucy on the plantation. She is a teenage slave that really cares about Tobias and so she raises him as her own child. He lives on the plantation for 11 years and he learns the trade of being a blacksmith. At 15 years old he’s beaten for defending Lucy against the master’s abuse and he needs to put an end to this. He asks Lucy to come, but she refuses out of fear.

Tobias goes to sleep everyday hoping to dream about his family and back home in Africa, but he always has nightmares about the white men taking him. Each time he wakes up, he cries softly.

You arrive on a docks with your mother, your brother, and a bunch of other men carrying whips and guns. They take you out the ship in chains. The ones that didn't make it, they simply toss them overboard. As you walk along the docks in shackles, you hear your name faintly. In fear of punishment, you keep your mouth shut and hauled onto the streets where a woman waits to take you to a plantation in Virginia.

April 9th, 1759

Tobias wakes up on the shoulder of a man who is unknown to him. His skin is a color. Tobias has never seen before: his skin is white. He’s quickly frightened with questions running through his head: “Where is my mother?” “Who is this man?” “Where is he taking me?” Tobias looks ahead and it seems he is being brought aboard a ship with many other people. Some are them being put on the boat by force. Tobias sees people getting whipped and people getting beaten up and all by these people with the same color skin. He calmly asks the white man if he can go home in his language. He ignores him. Tobias repeats himself. Nothing. In fear, Tobias yells the question at him and the white man just yells back saying, “Shut Up!” and keeps walking. Tobias quickly panics as he sees the man is taking him away from his home and he struggles and struggles. All he does is restrains Tobias and brings him on the ship. He brings him down in the cellar and the smell is horrible and it upsets him.

Follow Your Mother and Brother

You decide to tag along with your mother and sleeping brother. The white men never actually picked you up, but you decide you should stick with your family. The white men do not notice you behind them until you are just about to board the ship called the Royal George. Then one of the white men spots you, and decides to come and pick you up and bring you on the ship. This is the most gruesome and disgusting place you have ever seen in your life. There are almost five-hundred Africans on this ship more people you have ever seen together in your life. It smells horrible from the backed up toilets and sweating people, and you see the ribs of many Africans tied to the wall by chains and shackles. This is very scary. You wonder how can people live like this. You are soon also chained to a wall and are scared to death, but less scared because you are put next to your mother. Two months later the same white men walk into the large room you have been staying in the whole time. They start taking the Africans off the ship. You are taken out and are on a dock with your mother and brother in the new world.

Tylermontes:

Curzon is a little African boy living in a small African village in Ghana. Life is relaxing being that you are 2 years old living with your brother. Your brother is 4 years old. Your father is out hunting with the other men of the village. You are not aware what his father is doing because Curzon is only 2 years old.

Tobias, his older brother is 4 years old. He is a big child that also doesn't understand what the father is doing either. Tobias is not crying because his younger brother, Curzon accidentally hit him hard in the chest while dancing. Their mother comforted him.

She always comforted them through good and bad. Their mother, Binata is a very loving mother that always is there for her children. She has to be because he husband is almost never around to comfort their children together.

While Curzon is busy playing with his bongos, a white man suddenly approaches a different family in the tribe. Everybody in that tribe is very puzzled. They have never seen a man of his color or race. What they do not know is that many white people come to the northern part of Africa to kidnap people. He also has an object on his belt, also unknown to them but looks like a curled rope. It seems scary to Curzon and he decides to go closer to his mother, in fright of this scary object. But Binata is more afraid of the man than the object itself.
