"I'm not going to hurt you," Dez said softly, leaning toward Zeth. His fingers brushed the young mage's jaw and then his lips pressed against Zeth's. Dez could feel him trembling, his lips soft, but unresponsive. Dez kissed him slowly, his other hand rising up to grip his shoulder, and he moaned into Zeth's mouth, trying evoke some response. He got one, thought not the response he'd been hoping for.
Zeth shoved him away, jerked the door open, and disappeared into the hall. Dez stood, staring at the empty doorway. What did he do wrong? Was he just moving too fast, or was it something else? He sighed and walked back to his chair for his cloak. He heard the library door shut behind him and smiled to himself.

Dez had gotten to him more than he'd thought. "Because if you were, I'm afraid I'd have to report such conduct to the Council. You know how they feel about soliciting new mages."
"I wasn't," Dez said, grabbing his cloak and walking up to Erahn, "now, if you'll kindly step aside, I don't want to be late for dinner."
"Dinner doesn't start for nearly an hour," Erahn said, his smirk widening, and I'm still not convinced that your intentions with Lord Chorel were completely honorable." Dez clenched his fists. He hated this place and these people and all their stupid games. He considered trying to force his way past Erahn, but that wasn't likely to end well. Of course, neither was playing along. Either way, he'd end up fucked.
Dez should...
