You surreptitiously palm the diamond ring and casually head towards the exit to the mall. Before you can step out of the store, though, the jeweler appears in front of you as if by magic. He holds his hand out to you, palm up.
"Give me the ring," he says. "You don't even know what it is you're stealing."
"I'm not stealing anything," you say.
"Please don't try my patience," the jeweler says. "The ring, Madame."
