'Fine,' you say. 'But for that kind of job it'll cost you $20 per day plus expenses and a $100 retainer with the promise of a further $250 if I complete the job. If I'm going up against tough guys I'm not going to sell myself cheap.'
'But what about our earlier agreement?'
'Marty Riordan changes things. You'd be lucky if another PI would even listen' you say. 'Of course,' you grin, 'I'm always open to negotiations...'
The blonde smiles. 'You know, you might just do. Obviously I'd need you to do it without Marty getting to suspicious, and I'd need it done quickly. The rest is up to you. As for negotiations, let's discuss them when you make your initial report.'
