You decide to take a look outside and to take Melanie with you. You order her to walk in front of you. She backs away completely ignoring your instructions. Sighing in exasperation you pick up your bat and wave it in her direction ominously. A drop of blood flies from the tip of the bat and lands on her white shirt. She glances from the spot to the two men you battered earlier. One of the men has a large pulsating head wound and appears to bleeding out. Speaking in a hard voice you tell her to do as she is told and do it now. Melanie hesitates before reluctantly walking in the direction you indicate. She steps out your front door a second before you and suddenly stops her hand covering her mouth in a startled gasp.

You step out your front door into a scene from a nightmare. As lightning flashes through the sky, your horror grows. Abandoned cars litter the street, some still running and with doors wide open. Bodies lie across the road, on the sidewalks, and and across the lawns. You swear you can see people darting around in the shadows, and a few of the neighboring houses seem to have fires blazing through the interior despite the outside rain.

The home of your neighbors, the Parks, is an inferno with flames and smoke poring out the upper windows. Ms. Park a quiet mother of two children is splayed out on her driveway screaming and you can see two figures obscured by the smoke raping her.

For more men half naked with obvious sores on their body are only 10 feet from you. Their backs are toward you and they are walking away from you drawn to the noise if Ms. Park's screams.
