'Look,' you say, 'I can't tell you whether or not I accept the case without hearing the details first. So spill.'
The blonde considers it. 'Fine,' she decides. She sits back in her chair, the smoke from her cigarette curling around her as it rises.
'My husband is rich, Mr. Horne,' she says. 'I am not. At least, I wasn't till I married him. He is also not a young man. He wasn't young when I married him either.'
'When we announced our engagement his lawyers drew up a document for me to sign.' She smiles. 'Apparently his family didn't believe that a girl like me was interested in him just because of his boyish charm...'
