'Welcome to the People's Republic of Barataria! All hail the Great Leader, President Blanca!
Congratulations, you are a citizen of of Barataria, a small, war-torn but oil-rich country in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, which is ruled with an iron fist by President Angelo Blanca. Backed by the military, the multinational corporation Newtopia Ltd. and the Russian mob, Blanca recently came to power in a bloody coup which overthrew the monarchy. However a small but determined resistance movement, a mix of royalist reactionaries and socialist radicals and foreign idealists, has slowly been growing in spite of the strong-handed crackdowns by the BOSS, the Baratarian secret police who are absolutely loyal to Blanca. Now you must choose: back the resistance and win freedom for your people? Or remain loyal to Blanca and ensure the security and prosperity of you nation?
