So, that is your choice. Good.

Then I bid you farewell, friend.

Good luck...you'll need it.

The clang of metal-against-metal reaches your sharp ears, and you glance around in search of its source. You discover it almost immediately - not far away, two humanoid-demons are fighting with swords, stabbing and smacking at each other for some unknown reason. You scoff angrily, turning away. Demons are always fighting down here in the Tunnels. Even in the Surface World...the demons have become far more violent recently. It's made your job a lot easier...but still. The demons have never acted up this badly before. Fighting over nothing... Something is definately up.

Sighing, you brush your waist-length violet hair over your shoulder and stand. Your crimson eyes see as easily in the darkness of the night as if the area were bathed in bright light, so you have no need for a torch to light your surroundings. Slinging your leather pack over your shoulders, you sigh and continue on your way out of the caves, away from the demon battle and the loud noise.

You've been traveling for a long time...57 years now...yet you are still nowhere near completing your goal - to slay one thousand evil demons on the Surface World. This mission... As you think, you glance down at your sharpened fingernail-claws. Focusing on the dark energy coursing through you, you try to summon up the powers you have known since birth.

...but nothing happens. Rage and hate boils up inside you, but you quickly regain your composure and sigh. Ever since that day...you have been cursed. You can no longer use the dark powers you had come to rely on. That day - the day you attacked a small village and ran into that Exorcist - will forever haunt you. The Exorcist did as he was trained to do...he tried to banish you from the Surface World back into the Lower Realm. You managed to fatally wound him, but he used all his strength to set a cap on your dark powers...until you could prove yourself a virtuous demon by slaying a thousand evil demons.

So far...after 57 long and arduous years...you're at a little over 240. The demons you've killed have been far more numerous than that...but the curse only counts those 'truly evil' ones that are far stronger and more difficult to deal with than the weaklings that lurk across the land. It has been fairly annoying...but you have come to learn to control yourself and seek out the truly malevolent demons across the Surface World as a Headhunter. You have traveled from town to town, listening to rumors and taking demon-slaying jobs wherever you can find them.

With this cap on your powers, you are able to pass as a human. If anyone looked closely at you, they would see only your claws and fangs and slightly-pointed ears - nothing more. You can hang out in human places and listen to the town gossip...something you could never do before. This life doesn't bother you...much. Whenever you encounter a demon, though, you are reminded of your purpose and desire to become what you had been, and your resolve is strengthened once again.

Now, looking out at the gates to the Surface World, you wonder which job you should take next. You have two to choose from... You can go to North Beltonia, where you've heard rumors of a Wyvern Demon, or you can head to the tiny town of Belevial on the coast and check out the rumors concerning a Leviathan Demon.

Which do you choose?:
