You step forward into the light of the candles. A dozen men immediately turn in your direction, drawing their weapons in unison.
"Hey, I'm with you," you say hurriedly. "Von Carstein sends me."
"Really?" asks a man suspiciously. "I don't remember him telling me we'd have a new partner tonight."
The man appears to be the leader of the inner circle. He is a tall and dark individual with a bald head and a neatly-trimmed black beard flecked with grey. He bears a certain resemblance with someone you recently met.
"Are you Jonah?" you ask.
"So you know me." The man nods. "That's a good start. I'm surprised I wasn't told about you, but since we happen to need good men right now, I'm not going to complain. We were just about to set the next step of the plan in motion, the most dangerous step. You know what I'm talking about, right? Do you volunteer for it?"
