Without a second thought, you flee into the darkness before you, the dim light of the full moon and the stars gone almost immediately. You stumble and fall over once or twice, and see the encroaching lights of the villagers by the entrance, and get back up to keep running. Eventually, even the subtle light that came from the mouth of the cave is gone and you're forced to stick to the wall to keep from losing your balance. You're certain that the villagers did not follow you in; that is but a shallow comfort, as you are not sure you can find your way back out. You cannot see anything, and that cursed breeze seems to be coming from all sides. You let go of the wall you were holding to and try to shuffle your way over to the other one to get your bearings, but you soon realize you've walked much more than the distance between the two walls ought to be, yet there is nothing to touch but the air.

You panic and begin trotting forward with your arms out, only for your foot to fall where there is no ground and for you to tip forward, unable to stop yourself as you fall into what feels like endless nothing, the air whistling by your ears the only indication of the fact you are in reality. Your heart pounds in fright, wondering if you'll even hit the ground. Your fall is suddenly stopped short when you hit something head first, and the shock knocks you unconscious.

You wake up in a strange place, laying on cold stone, absolutely drenched in water and freezing. Strangely enough, there seems to be some kind of lightly glowing moss on the rocky walls and the ceiling of the cave you're in, which produce enough light to barely see your surroundings. You're laying by what looks like a large pool of freshwater, and you can only assume that the water is what you fell into, which is how you're still alive. The question is, how did you get out of the water and onto the ground? You should have drowned. Did someone save you? Or was it purely by luck that you survived?

At least you are safe from the villagers, but now you have a new problem. You need to find your way out of this cave. You look around some more, and see that there are multiple passages that you could enter from where you are. You recall some of the old stories about this place. Apparently this was where a lot of people used to be buried and a lot of religious stuff happened, but it all stopped a few decades ago, when Sir Pellonius, the paladin, came here and threw out the sizable cult for worshiping some sort of evil. You do not really remember the details, you just liked pretending to be Sir Pellonius. The fact that you're shivering uncontrollably does not help you concentrate.

Your eyes adjust to the light a little more, and you notice the little droplets and foot-sized puddles of water in a trail that seems to be heading down the rightmost passageway. Did someone go for a swim, then walk off? That way makes you feel uneasy, for some reason, as if something dangerous and foreboding is that way...

The middle passageway is much darker than the other two. You doubt that you could see well in there, as there is little of that convenient glowing moss in it, but it might lead somewhere worthwhile.

The leftmost passageway is the brightest of the three paths. You would be able to see best down that way, you determine.
