I would be more interested in searching for a new home for SSR, except that SSR isn’t really my primary writing concern at this time.  If I were more actively involved in writing it right now, I’d be more concerned with this site’s limitations.

I’m also concerned with not just moving to a site that properly supports the story in all its sprawling perversity, but one that also gives me the authority to allow for collaboration with other writers while also allowing me to kick out those who insist on writing awful trash. --[[User:Platypus|Platypus]] 00:33, 9 August 2020 (UTC)

Doing it right

Welcome to the site.

Thank you for asking if you're doing it right. I'm pleased to say that yes, you. I do have high standards for contributions to my stories, and you've been writing at those standards. You've been using proper grammar and punctuation, you've utilized the status bar and category correctly, and you've made your story choices all choices for the character to make, rather than choices for things to happen to the character. All very well and good. Keep it up! --Platypus 14:52, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Found an ad

You thought right. Thanks for the catch. One more ad stomped out!--Platypus 05:32, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

Smutty Sex Romp XML

That's an impressive bit of work. It might come in very handy at some point! Thanks. --Platypus 14:18, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

There's nothing redundant about you doing an XML dump for Rampage. Again, it might come in handy.

The page counts are very buggy here. Other users have told me that they see different page counts depending on whether they're logged in or not. --Platypus 00:27, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Just going to note that I have grabbed the XML, and confirmed that they DO load into a fresh wiki. There are some things that need cleanup, (some of the category: pages etc) but otherwise, it works rather cleanly. I DID have to make some changes to the settings. Specifically ini_set('memory_limit', '2048M'); and set_time_limit(6000); were required to let the largest pages load. --deefdragon 23:57, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

I am prety sure that that particular page cant be exported as it is a special page, but I am not sure. Any link to that page takes you to a page that asks to create it, so its really not worth too much fuss.

I am currently running it on a docker container mediawiki instance locally.

The biggest headaches were

  • you cant import in parallel, and with each one taking something arround a minute a MB, it took me all night.
  • the fact that some of those files were so large I had to increase the resources (and processing time allotments) that MW had available to it. (finding out after waiting for it to load for so long sucked)

Adding Images

Hey Qui-Gon this side. I am unable to add image links in my work . Plese help me out of you can.

Moving

While this site certainly has its issues, I'm not seriously looking to move at this time. I will let active users such as you know if that should change. --Platypus 20:47, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

Ultra Rare Completionist Comment

Hey, how is it going? Yeah, it's been years and if not for the quarantine boredom, I don't think I'd even be here right now! Thank you for reading the story and I truly appreciate the compliment (though, I should really give credit to the many users who created the content in the Pit that inspired me to connect them all!) Fun Fact: the original plan was to link the abandoned stories per content rating from family to the 18+ stuff.

Unfortunately, there won't be a comeback for me on this site, but maybe we'll cross paths somewhere else, along the tides of the internet. That said, you are welcome to continue the Abandoned Stories legacy (as is everyone else active and reading this right now) or even build a better world for it if you want. It's really anyone's limitless adventure, and it shouldn't stop in just one story.

Well anyway, that is it for me. I'm surprised I even remember my password after so long. Signing out forever! Peace! (Say hi to Platypus for me!)

I swear that wasn't a power move or anything

No worries. Theses things happen.

There have been times in the past when several of us discovered the hard way that more than one of us were working the same section of Rampage at the same time and edit conflicts ensued. It got messy, but we worked things out. --Platypus 00:16, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
