The GBYWN Australian Heavyweight Championship is a backyard wrestling top tier international territorial championship in Australia, assigned as one of various other championships in backyard wrestling alliance, Global Backyard Wrestling Nation (GBYWN). The title is the only GBYWN championship recognized in Australia.

History

Origination

In early 2010, Chairman of the Global Backyard Wrestling Nation alliance, Rad Hazard, sanctioned a GBYWN championship in Australia known as the GBYWN Australian Heavyweight Championship. At AWGP's SuperSlam event, Zac Shaw, one of Queensland Backyard Wrestling's longest serving roster members, defeated Crimson Genocide to become the inaugural champion.

Title Details

The physical championship belt was homemade by Atticus Floyd, originally used as the nWd Tag Team Championship and was to be the Pro Federation, ACWA's version of the Smashmouth Championship. The physical belt returned to active service when AWGP re-activated. On May 30, 2010, Keiran Show won the vacant AWGP Smashmouth Championship and thus, the GBYWN Australian Title was unified with the belt to create the AWGP-GBYWN Global Championship. Since then the Global Backyard Wrestling Nation have given status to the Inner City Wrestling Syndicate as the Australian representatives of GBYWN. Therefore, on July 25th 2010, the GBYWN Australian Heavyweight Championship was reactivated and won by Tazer. Since then, in Tazer's final appearance in ICWS, he lost the championship to Dan Zeplin in an impromptu title match at the end of an interpromotional show.
