- Liver bile duct cysts occur in ADPKD and ARPKD.
- They used light and electron microscopy to examine the ductal epithelial cells in wildtype, diseased-pre-cyst, and disease-cyst mouse models.
- They found fibrosis and shortened primary cilia in the diseased states (expression of the mutated cpk gene).
- They showed that ENaC was either absent or inactive in the diseased cells.
