Elemental Planes

173.89.15.251:

Among the numerous planes of the Blades of the Apocalypse universe, there are ten infinitely large Elemental Planes, the source of their respective elements within the universe. Unsafe for travel by all except God, the Warrior Angels and their accomplices, walking through a rift into an Elemental Plane will result in death for any others.

*Aphotic Plane: The Elemental Plane of Darkness. Used by Tresdos for teleportation while he possessed the powers of the Warrior Angel of Darkness, the Aphotic Plane is pure and complete darkness. Entering the Aphotic Plane without the aid of the Warrior Angel of Darkness (or, in the case of Messanger, a cloak designed for that very purpose) results in complete sensory shutdown. As the Aphotic Plane is devoid of air, any being that needs to breathe would quickly asphyxiate within the Aphotic Plane. While a being without respiratory functions could conceivably survive in the Aphotic Plane until they died of thirst or starvation, leaving the Aphotic Plane without assistance results in an instant and fatal sensory overload upon returning to the creature's plane of origin.

*Blazing Plane: The Elemental Plane of Fire. Used by Pyrodeus for teleportation and communication with God via meditative trance, the plane is entirely ablaze; even the 'air' burns. Without Pyrodeus' aid traveling through it, any being caught within the Blazing Plane would be instantly aflame on a molecular level. Though Visignis can travel through the Blazing Plane unshielded by his father (and even feel refreshed by the flames surrounding him), teleportation takes only a fraction of a second. Were Visignis to lose grip of his father within the Blazing Plane, in spite of his immunity to fire on normal planes, the Blazing Plane would cause him to burn to death within 10 seconds.

*Electric Plane: The Elemental Plane of Lightning. Used by Fulminerus for teleportation while he lived, and by Damian while in possession of Fulminerus' seal, the entire plane is abuzz with electric energy; even the 'air' is electrified. Entry into the Electric Plane unassisted will result in electrocution on a molecular level.

*Fluid Plane: The Elemental Plane of Water. Used by Hydrodurus for teleportation while he lived, the plane is entirely water. Entry into the Fluid Plane unassisted will result in instant and massive saturation with water on a molecular level, causing the body to dissolve into the Plane.

*Frozen Plane: The Elemental Plane of Ice. Used by Cryodivus for teleportation, the plane is made up purely of ice with a temperature of Abzolute Zero. Entry into the Frozen Plane unassisted will result in instant freezing on a molecular level.

*Gleaming Plane: The Elemental Plane of Gold. Used by Aurumagnus for teleportation while he lived, the plane is made of solid, pure gold. Entry into the Gleaming Plane unassisted will result in being infused with gold on a molecular level, then pulled apart and scattered throughout the Gleaming Plane.

*Living Plane: The Elemental Plane of Earth. Used by Gisichros for teleportation while he lived, the Living Plane is actually a single, sentient life form as well as an Elemental Plane. Entry into the Living Plane unassisted results in being instantly absorbed into the Living Plane on a molecular level.

*Radiant Plane: The Elemental Plane of Light. Used by Taelyrn for teleportation, the plane is comprised entirely of light energy. Entry into the Radiant Plane unassisted will result in an instant and fatal sensory overload.

*Unshakable Plane: The Elemental Plane of Stone. Used by Silexops for teleportation while he lived, the plane is made entirely of solid stone. Entry into the Unshakable Plane unassisted will result in instantly being crushed into a ball the approximate size of a grain of salt.

*Vaporous Plane: The Elemental Plane of Wind. Used by Ventusamplus for teleportation while he lived, the plane is made of swirling and fierce winds, moving at or above the speed of light. Entry into the Vaporous Plane will result in being instantly torn asunder on a molecular level by the winds, then blown throughout the plane.

Reyone Military Martial Arts

173.89.15.251: /* Ranking System */

Reyone Military Martial Arts, more commonly known as RMMA, is a martial arts program invented and taught by the Reyone Army. First implemented in 8906 AV, RMMA draws from several Etrahn martial arts but especially Drengoba, a martial art invented by Visignis around the year 2000 AV. Like Drengoba, RMMA places heavy emphasis on remaining in almost constant motion, and incapacitating an enemy with a single strike whenever possible. These basic tenets require remarkable strength and endurance on the part of the student. In spite of the difficulty of mastering the art, a fairly large number of civilian dojos, simply called "facilities", exist in the northern continent, with dojo heads (both ex-military and civilian) of varying rankings.

Ranking System
There are twelve rankings in RMMA, each signified by a unique belt. Achieving a ranking in RMMA allows the student to teach and certify others up to one level below their own current ranking, one of the main reasons for the spread of RMMA facilities.

*White Belt: The first RMMA ranking, this level shows a basic knowledge of the ideas, if not necessarily the implementations, of RMMA.

*Yellow Belt: The second ranking of RMMA, this level is achieved by proving both knowledge and practical application of basic RMMA techniques. Yellow Belts can train and certify up to White Belt in RMMA.

*Green Belt: The third RMMA ranking displays skill slightly above basic RMMA skill and understanding of intermediate RMMA tenets. Green Belts can train up to Yellow Belt students. Green Belt or higher RMMA ranking is a prerequisite of graduation from Reyone Army basic training.

*Blue Belt: The fourth ranking of RMMA, Blue Belts have proven knowledge and skill of intermediate-level RMMA. Blue Belts can train Green Belt-level and below students. Blue Belt level RMMA is considered the level of training needed for civilians to defend themselves in most civilian situations.

*Purple Belt: The fifth ranking of RMMA. Purple Belts display adept RMMA understanding and skill. Units of the Reyone Army must be certified as a Purple Belt or higher before being assigned to active combat duty.

*Red Belt: The sixth ranking of RMMA. Red Belts must possess adept RMMA skill and advanced knowledge of the martial art. Red Belts can train and certify Purple Belt or lower rankings. Unless shown to be highly skilled with weapons, Reyone Army soldiers must achieve Red Belt ranking to enter combat. The majority or Reyone Army foot soldiers are certified Red Belt or higher.

*Orange Belt: The seventh RMMA ranking is achieved by both knowledge and skill of advanced RMMA techniques. Orange Belts cannot be certified until they display the ability to knock an opponent off of their feet with one blow. Orange Belts can train and certify the first 6 levels of RMMA, and as such an Orange Belt is required to open a civilian RMMA facility.

*Brown Belt: The eighth RMMA ranking, highly advanced knowledge and skill are required to achieve a Brown Belt. Brown Belts cannot be certified until they display the ability to remain in constant motion during a 5-minute sparring session.

*Black Belt, 1st degree: The ninth RMMA ranking, and the necessary ranking to be called 'master'. Most facilities are run by a 1st-degree or higher Black Belt, and only Reyone Army or ex-military have achieved a Black Belt. Black Belts cannot be certified until they display the ability to remain in constant motion, and knock at least 3 opponents off of their feet (rendering at least one unconscious), in the course of a 15-minute sparring session. In order to distinguish from other degrees of Black Belt, 1st-degrees have a single gold stripe on their belt.

*Black Belt, 2nd-degree: The tenth RMMA ranking. Achieving a 2nd-degree Black Belt requires an intimate knowledge of RMMA, and the ability to display skill at master-level. Achieving this ranking requires remaining in constant motion for an hour, and knocking all comers unconscious, during a sparring session. In order to distinguish from other degrees of Black Belt, 2nd-degrees have 2 parallel gold stripes on their belt. This is the highest achievable level during peace time.

*Black Belt, 3rd-degree: The eleventh RMMA ranking. Achieving this ranking requires complete knowledge of RMMA, and skill approaching their level of understanding. In order to achieve a 3rd-degree ranking, a witness must observe and testify to a 2nd-degree Black Belt killing at least 3 healthy enemy soldiers, one with a single blow, using only RMMA in a combat situation. In order to distinguish from other degrees of Black Belt, 3rd-degrees have 3 parallel gold stripes on their belt. There are less than 100 3rd-degree RMMA Black Belts alive today.

*Black Belt, 4th-degree: The twelfth, and highest possible, RMMA ranking. This is the only RMMA ranking that can certify others at a level equal to themselves. Certification requires killing no less than 5 healthy enemy soldiers (at least 2 of them armed) with a single blow, using only RMMA techniques. Because of the similar requirements to a flying ace, 4th-degree Black Belts are sometimes nicknamed "RMMAce". There are only 6 living RMMA 4th-degree Black Belts, though Visignis could arguably be considered a seventh. Colonel Darzul Vorca is the only 4th-degree Black Belt no longer enlisted in the Reyone Army.

Darzul

173.89.15.251: /* Weapons, Powers and Abilities */

Colonel Darzul Vorca is the leader of a militia in Thoncir which now polices and protects the city, in lieu of an absent police force.

History
Darzul joined the Junior Corps of the Reyone Army at age 16, and enlisted on his 18th birthday. He remained in the Army until the end of the Etrahn War and beyond, quickly rising to the rank of colonel. When the Reyone Army began genetic experimenting to create supersoldiers, Vorca was one of the unwilling test subjects. The experiments were successful beyond the hopes of the army, but informing the public of their success caused a partial downfall of the army. During this time, in an attempt to save face, the Reyone Army ran smear campaigns against a handful of supersoldiers and high-ranking officers. Colonel Vorca was both, and was dishonorably discharged, the reason cited being 'gross incompetence' despite the men he lead having the highest survival rate of any fighting battalion, and an above-average kill rate.

After his discharge from the Reyone Army, Vorca left the City and moved to Thoncir, a safe place for an unpopular fugitive since the police force collapsed during the war. He set up a small militia with a handful of his most loyal soldiers, using weapons and vehicles stolen from various Reyone Army bases. In time knowledge of the militia grew, and more former Reyone Army soldiers joined, as well as new recruits from Thoncir and the surrounding area. Between money from cash sales and bartering for labor and materials, Darzul was able to build a large, well-guarded base taking up several city blocks. Eventually Darzul's militia became the de facto police for Thoncir, with a force of approximately 5,000 men.

During a meeting to buy more weapons and armor for his militia, Darzul became involved in a bar fight involving Mesozoic, helping defend him against a pack of drunken bigots. Since then, the two have joined forces to help the militia, and also moved Mathew's body to Thoncir General Hospital for medical attention following the battle with Baalaose.

Weapons, Powers and Abilities
Darzul often carries a .388 Reyone Carbine, the standard issue weapon of the Reyone Army and an easily obtainable, ruggedly built and extremely reliable rifle. He is never without his .445 semi-automatic, nickel-plated pistol. Vorca is an exceptional shot with both, able to drop a human-sized target at 500 yards with the rifle and 300 yards with the pistol. He is also an exceptional driver, and can drive or pilot any vehicle with remarkable skill. Darzul is a 4th-degree black belt in RMMA, or Reyone Military Martial Arts. This is the highest achievable ranking.

As a result of the genetic experimentation, Darzul also has powerful regenerative abilities, able to recover from any wound except decapitation. Time spent recovering varies, depending on the severity of the wound, but Darzul has regrown a leg from the knee down within an hour in the past. He can also project force fields, primarily in a sphere around his body. The power of the force field is determined by the duress Vorca is under at the time, but in periods of extreme high stress or excitement Vorca's force field has proven capable of deflecting bullets.

Etrahn Timeline

Admin:

The following is a timeline for the world of Etrah:

Year 0: Etrah is formed.

Year 204: Etrah is now inhabited, thanks to divine works. The planet's foremost population consists of humans. The wildlife consists of many various insects, a few varieties of quadrupeds, and a few birds. Technology is nil, and humanity lives in the wild, among the animals.

Year 500: Angels visit Etrah, giving the blueprints for some basic technology, such as windmills, and boats. This sparks a technological revolution among the Etrahn people, and the world is suddenly filled with "inventors".

Year 614 (1 AV): The Warrior Angels do battle with the Sons of Plunder in the ancient city of Ferdas, with the Warrior Angels victorious. Human history is first recorded from this time forward, with monks recording time in AV years, for Angelic Victory.

17 AV: The city of Ferdas is reduced to rubble by Visignis. Much Etrahn technological progress is slowed by the annihilation of this major city in ancient times.

Circa 2000 AV: Etrahn technology now rivals that of present day Earth, and is still rapidly climbing.

3019 AV: The Machine Army, an enormous force of sentient robots, is destroyed by Visignis, preventing what would have been an inevitable human holocaust.

8008 AV: Present day.

Prelude to Chaos

68.112.184.218:

Blades of the Apocalypse: Prelude to Chaos is the first story arc of Blades of the Apocalypse. It covers the battle with Arius.

Summary
After millennia of wars, Etrah had come to know a scarce peace, even if it was only because the inhabitants had grown to so few numbers that they couldn't risk fighting without making all sentient life extinct. However, an evil soul had been scheming something deep inside the body of a rodent. He used this time of peace to find himself a new body, one that would not limit his power. As he cold not do this himself, he found peons to do his bidding. Coryn, a demon who'd forgotten his human life, and Messanger, a vampire with a vengance against his own kind, were the evil soul's minions. This evil soul's name was Arius.

His control over the two came easily. The demon did not know his own past, so Arius offered to return memories in exchange for service. As for the vampire, Messanger was so consumed by his lust for vengance, that he would take any opportunity to find the few remaining vampires left. Arius offered him just that. Their first task was finding a body. Coryn managed to find the perfect sample laying face down in the soul stream, and brought it to Arius. He was repayed with his memories. However, Arius had only restored the negetive memories, keeping the much more bountiful pleasant ones from the demon. This rush of pain and anguish drove Coryn into a deep rage, and deeper under Arius' control.

Meanwhile, Messanger had been wreaking havoc on the realm of Etrah, pulling out warriors such as ArkAngel, an angel cast from Heaven at an early age, forced to live out life in Old Etrah, as an outcast of even the humans, and Sollnia, a mysterious young woman with an affinity for Messanger.

As the fights raged on in the world above, Arius and Coryn were well on their way to controling the Hells. Coryn had defeated Lotus, taking Second Hell, as well as Lotus' amulet, which absorbed the souls of the dead, allowing the bearer access to their power, in his commander's name. Arius, in the meantime, had discovered a sword known as Gaia's Tear, that gained power with every innocent soul that was slain in its presence. He'd set out to make a conterpart, which trapped every sould it cut down, innocent or otherwise. Arius' sword was called Gaia's Torment. With that project completed, and one of the three amulets in his possesion, he began his search for the gates to Hell. Arius commanded Coryn to gather Messanger and seek out an artifact known as the Sightless Eye.

Heaven had finally taken notice of Arius' actions, sending their top warrior, Pyrodeus, the Warrior Angel of Fire, to halt the evil actions. The angel met with Solnia, and headed for the Appeak Mountains to find the atrifact before Arius' minions. Ark had simply set out on his own to find Coryn, a childhood friend when the demon was still human. Atop the mountains, a battle raged out, and eventually, Coryn and Messanger made away with the Sightless Eye, returning it to Arius. The artifact located the gates in Reyone Field.

They left for the field, where the guardian of Hell, Satan, had been waiting. Coryn took on the beast alone, claiming a victory, as well as Satan's sword, which unknowingly held the second amulet within the hilt. As Arius and Messanger descended through Hell, Ark had found Coryn waiting for them at the gates in Reyone. The demon accused the fallen angel of making his human life miserable, not knowing the whole story. After a brief, but furious battle, Coryn emerged victorious, killing ArkAngel, who then turned into a blue dust, which was inhaled, and ultimately absorbed by the demon. This fusion of the two brought back Coryn's full memory, which furiated him, and made him vow vengeance against Arius.

In the meantime, Arius squared off with Lucifer, the King of Hell. Claiming victory against the Devil, and the throne, Arius had managed to destroy the third amulet. In a moment of despair, the artifact found its way onto Arius' hand as a tattoo, but still having the same effect. He took this newfound power, and set his sights on Etrah itself. Exiting the gates of Hell, Arius was attacked by Coryn, striking the demon down with a single punch. Arius didn't want to dirty his blade on on such a filthy beast. He took Satan's sword from Coryn, breaking the third amulet from the swrod, thus granting himself unsurpassed power.

By this time, Pyrodeus and Sollnia had arrived on the scene, determined to stop Arius. After a long fight, Arius still had the upper hand. Sollnia had spent most of the fight trying to revive Coryn, unknowingly succeeding. Arius did not see fit of this, and cut her down. Arius had claimed victory with her death, as the Angel of Fire didn't have the strength to fight back. However, a new force had been awakened. Coryn's body had undergone a transformation in the revival, both physically, and mentally, as a culmination of two souls. This new entity was known as Mathew. Driven by two separate but equally intense urges to destroy Arius, an epic battle ensued. In the end, Mathew had disarmed Arius of his Torment by cutting off the hand that held it. The hand also had the amulet tatooed on it. Upon hitting the ground, Etrah claimed the sword and tattooed amulet for itself, instantly growing a twisted tree around them. It would come to be the only tree in the entire field.

Mathew had beaten Arius into submission as two new people happened upon the scene at the right time. These two, Rifel and Jay, had wandered into this dimension by chance, and felt it only necessary to help. They opened a rift to an unknown dimension, known only as the Abyss, and forced Arius through it. The process destroyed the body that Arius had inhabited, trapping him, as well as the other two amulets, in the Abyss. The combination of the massive amounts of souls and power being released, as well as Arius' intense desire to escape the Abyss, split the fabrics of time and space, breaking the barriers between worlds, allowing free travel for everyone. Not even Heaven and Hell were safe from the breaking of realms. The angels, now being exposed to the freedom that humanity had, became jealous, revolting against Heaven, and falling from grace.

Unfortunately for the universe, this was only the Prelude to Chaos.

Maku

24.196.122.169:

Maku is a character in Blades of the Apocalypse. He is an augmented human, like his twin brother Taka. He debuted during the Broken Heaven storyline.

Pre-Story History
Taka and his twin, Maku, were born 2 minutes apart in the village of Reyone, on the continent of Old Etrah. The two were looked up to by the younger children, due to the novelty of their appearance. Taka used his position as a role model to teach the children the importance of kindness and respect, and fighting only in self defense, and as a last resort. Maku, on the other hand, believed that it was more important to establish control through power, and taught the children who followed him to lay opponents low before they become strong enough to be a threat. The two would often argue about their conflicting philosophies.

Then, on the day of Arius' imprisonment in the Abyss, when Heaven and Hell broke, the twins were, for unknown reasons, affected by the energies released. Taka absorbed celestial energy from the break of Heaven, while Maku absorbed demonic energy from the break of Hell. The two found that they had gained abilities from this, mirroring their philosophies.
Eventually, months after gaining their powers, Maku went on a rampage, killing several people in Reyone before being run out of town. Taka was exiled out of fear that he would follow his brother's example, and began to track down his brother.

24.196.122.169:

Taka is a character in Blades of the Apocalypse. He is an augmented human, like his twin brother Maku. Taka debuted during the Broken Heaven storyline, pursuing his brother.

Rerden and Inor
After leaving home, Taka followed Maku's trail, eventually coming to the village of Rerden. There, he healed some of Maku's victims in a church, before passing out. Waking up, he walked outside, where he met Inor, a demon seeking revenge on Hell. The two decided to help each other, and left town shortly after.

Forest of Shadows
After leaving Rerden and buying Inor a new sword, the two followed Maku's trail into the Forest of Shadows. Within the forest, Taka was attacked by a creature of living shadow, and the two ran. Eventually, the two stumbled into a rift in space, emerging on a bridge just outside of Manhattan, in modern-day New York City.

Taka and Inor, feeling slightly panicked, ran back through the rift before it closed, returning to their own world in an alleyway within the nameless City.

Rhiath and Jaxyl
Walking through the City, Taka and Inor stumbled across an ad for a gun-for-hire by the name of Rhiath. Inor knew a demon named Rhiath from Hell, and the picture on the ad was of the same person. Going to the apartment number listed on the ad, Inor and Rhiath were reunited. Apparently, Rhiath had fled Hell after the break, and had set himself up as a mercenary.

As the three were talking in Rhiath's apartment, a rogue angel named Jaxyl was watching from outside. He had seen Inor and Taka walking through the city, and assumed that Taka was being held hostage. He and Rhiath briefly exchanged fire, until Taka intervened, and an agreement was reached. Jaxyl would travel with them, as would Rhiath.

Weapons, Powers, and Abilities
Taka's signature ability is the power to heal the wounds of a living thing through physical contact. However, doing so takes a toll on Taka, tiring him temporarily. The amount of energy used to heal depends on several factors, including severity of the injury, as well as whether the person is mortal or not. Due to the fact that Taka's powers are celestial in origin, healing those with unholy or demonic energies drains Taka more than the average mortal being.

The full extent of this healing is unknown, although it is known that Taka is incapable of healing himself. Taka has displayed an ability to revive recently dead, or at least those killed by his brother, Maku.

68.112.178.187:

Inor is a character in Blades of the Apocalypse. He is a demon who escaped from Hell after both Heaven and Hell broke following the death/imprisonment of Arius. He was once a powerful psychic, and now seeks to regain his powers and seek revenge on Hell.

Pre-Story History
Inor was once a powerful demon warrior, born and raised in the fiery pits of Hell. He was trained as a psychic and a swordsman, and was very skilled. Eventually, as a sign of his skill and status, he was given a powerful magical sword called Caladbolg. Then, one day, Inor attempted to take over the throne of Hell. A great battle followed between Inor and Satan, during which Inor was injured.

Taking advantage of the break in the battle, Satan used his powers as Ruler of Hell to strip Inor of his powers and his sword. Afterwards, Inor was given to the other demons of Hell to do with as they pleased. Inor managed to escape and flee to Etrah with the break of Hell.

Rerden and Taka
For many weeks after escaping Hell, Inor hid in the woods near the town of Rerden, on the continent of Old Etrah. After regaining some of his strength, Inor began to explore Rerden itself, meeting a young man named Taka. Taka was pursuing his brother, Maku. Inor and Taka made a deal: Inor would help Taka find his brother, and in return, Taka would help Inor get revenge on Hell.

Inor and Taka, feeling slightly panicked, ran back through the rift before it closed, returning to their own world in an alleyway within the nameless City.

Rhiath and Jaxyl
Walking through the City, Inor and Taka stumbled across an ad for a gun-for-hire by the name of Rhiath.

Inor once wielded a powerful sword called Caladbolg, which was sharp enough to cut massive boulders without dulling, and strong enough to cut far beyond it's physical reach. He currently carries a non-magical sword, but wishes to reclaim Caladbolg.

Inor also possesses great psychic powers, but these were weakened severely before his escape from Hell. Inor has begun to re-train himself and gain his powers back. There have been moments where, due to extreme stress, he was able to access his powers at their full level, but only at great pain to himself.

At their fullest, Inor's psychic abilities specialize in Telekinetic abilities, with a lesser focus on Telepathy. He could also teleport short distances at one time, although whether this was a psychic power or not is unknown.

129.89.193.225:

The Sacred Altar of Divine Power is an altar in northern Heaven. Its primary use is the ascension rite Magres Xerfal, which allows angels to greatly increase their power and become largely immune to death.

Appearance
The altar is surrounded by torches, and houses a silver chalice in the center. Behind the altar are multi-tiered bleachers held up by pillars, not unlike a small coliseum; it can be presumed that Magres Xerfal was considered a major event upon its invention, and one worthy of observation. However, these seats also provide cover for any entities that wish to ruin the ritual by hiding and attacking during the final phases.

Taelyrn

68.112.178.187: /* Weapons, Powers, and Abilities */

Taelyrn is a character in Blades of the Apocalypse. He was created during the Baalaose conflict through the fusion of two parallel-universe versions of the same person. He is currently involved in the Baalaose conflict, on the side of Pyrodeus and his allies.

Pre-Story History
After a horrible day at school and at work, a man from Earth saw a shooting star out of his bedroom window. Sarcastically, he wished for a life of adventure, one that would take him away from his life as it was. At this time, on Etrah, a poor man was wishing for the same thing.

When the man from Earth woke up, he found himself asleep in a forest, near a lake. He stood and explored his surroundings, and soon developed a massive headache. He found that when he turned east, the headache lessened, so he began to go east.

The Etrahn man, waking up on the outskirts of the unnamed City, found that he also had a headache, and found relief only when going west. Wondering what was going on, he ventured west, into Reyone Field.

Both men soon found themselves approaching a large ring of stones, and as they walked into it, their headaches all but disappeared. However, they were both suddenly very thirsty, and walked to a pool of water in the center of the ring. At this moment, they both noticed each other, and were shocked to see that they were identical, in every way they could see. The shock of this realization, coupled with their movement toward the pool, made them fall forward, both of them going underwater.

Instantly, the water began to glow brightly, a flash of light bathing the area. When it was gone, a man stood, seemingly on air, above the water. He opened his eyes and stepped forward onto the ground, then turned and took a drink from the pool. The word Tae-Lyrn came to his mind as he drank, meaning "soul-born", and from that, he took his name.

First Encounters
After a time of waiting in the circle, Taelyrn met Jaxyl, a rogue angel who had been walking through the field. The two spoke, and decided to spar. During this sparring match, it became apparent that Taelyrn had powers of which he was seemingly unaware. After the match concluded, another rogue angel, named Drixel, approached the pair, offering a challenge. Taelyrn accepted, and demonstrated yet more power, seeming to act on instinct.

After Drixel and Taelyrn had finished, Jaxyl asked them to join the cause of Baalaose. Drixel accepted, but Taelyn declined, wishing to see more of the world and learn to control his abilities.

Training
Taelyrn then walked west for several days, eventually arriving outside of Pyrodeus' Forge. Finding his way inside, he met Pyrodeus and Visignis. After hearing their stance on the Baalaose conflict, he decided to ally himself with their cause. However, he had a small problem: he could not control his abilities.

Upon hearing this, Visignis and Pyrodeus each took turns sparring with Taelyrn, where it was discovered that Taelyrn's instincts had developed into a seperate, fully aware personality. Pyrodeus theorized that if he could get the two to cooperate, they might merge, and give Taelyrn full control over his abilities.

After further fighting, a compromise was reached. Pyrodeus gave Taelyrn a Tai Chi sword, with a diamond embedded in the pommel, which could be used to store his energy. Taelyrn began to fill the gem with energy, and as he did, the split personalities merged, leaving Taelyrn in one piece, with full control, if not knowledge, of his abilities. Thanking Pyrodeus for his help, Taelyrn then ventured off into the Mountains of Secrecy, deciding to train until he knew his limits, if only so he could surpass them.

Thoncir, Tresdos, and Maku
After leaving the Mountains of Secrecy, Taelyrn made his way to the town of Thoncir, on the coast of the continent of Etrah. Upon wandering into town, Taelyrn discovered the remains of a massive horde of demons, all slain by the Warrior Angel Tresdos. He followed a trail of blood to a warehouse where Tresdos was producing hides and demon-bone weapons from the corpses. There, Tresdos offered Taelyrn a deal: assist with the production, and recieve a cut of the profit.

Taelyrn accepted, seeking to earn enough money to replace his trenchcoat, which had been burned during his sparring with Pyrodeus and Visignis. However, before Taelyrn could do much more than strip the meat from a skeleton, their progress was interrupted by a blast of energy, which destroyed a good portion of the warehouse.

Taelyrn and Tresdos found that the energy came from a strange, seemingly insane youth called Maku. However, believing Maku to be a demon, Tresdos splashed the boy with holy water, unknowingly interrupting Maku's abilities. A shouting match followed, almost leading to the killing of Maku by Tresdos. However, Taelyrn interrupted the two with a shield, offering Maku one chance to run. Maku accepted.

Tresdos, angry with Taelyrn for believing himself worthy of interrupting, sent Taelyrn away.

Cryodivus and Drixel
Taelyrn, some time after leaving Thoncir, returned to Reyone Field, hoping to rest for a while in the stone circle where he had been 'born'. However, upon crossing the field, Taelyrn encountered Drixel, one of the first people he had encountered in Etrah, and Cryodivus, the Warrior Angel of Ice. The two had just finished a battle with Baalaose, which had ended with the would-be god walking away without a word, and the demon Leviathan destroyed.

Deciding to set out for Pyrodeus' Forge, Cryodivus wondered whether or not Taelyrn would slow them down, due to his lack of wings. However, he surprised all of them, including himself, by generating a shield around himself that allowed him to defy gravity.

Weapons, Powers, and Abilities
Taelyrn has the ability to manipulate the energy in his own soul, a feat made possible by the fact that he has the energy of two living souls. He can use this energy in many different ways.

His most frequent use of the energy is to create energy shields, both around himself and others. He has demonstrated the ability to shatter these shields into razor-sharp shards, over which he has showed some control. These shards can also be created directly, without first creating a shield.
Taelyrn also uses this ability to create directed energy blasts and, as has recently been discovered, to levitate himself off the ground.

Taelyrn possesses a Tai Chi sword, forged by Pyrodeus, with a nearly-perfect diamond embedded in the pommel. This diamond can hold massive amounts of energy, and the sword serves as a focus for Taelyrn in order to help him control his powers. He has not yet shown how much skill he may possess with the sword, but some of his earlier abilities suggest that he is more than capable. Before having the sword, Taelyrn would usually create an energy blade for use in battle. With this, he was able to fight on nearly even ground against both Visignis and Pyrodeus.

Tresdos

24.167.249.109:

Tresdos is a Rogue Angel turned Warrior Angel with the power of Nocticertus, the Angel of Darkness. In life he was a Ferdan assassin during the creation of the Warrior Angels. Recently deceased, his seal and weapons remain, allowing for a possible resurrection or reincarnation.

History
In life, Tresdos was a ruthless and sadistic assassin. He operated in and around the ancient city of Ferdas, where he came in contact with Heinous, the leader of the nomadic barbarians known as the Locust Tribe. Tresdos was hired to kill Visignis, but was fought to a stalemate effortlessly by the half-angel. Visignis passed out shortly after due to exhaustion from an extreme display of fiery magic. Tresdos' instincts told him that Visignis could have killed him with minimal effort, and simply chose not to. The assassin consequently returned Heinous' money with a note saying he had changed his mind about the job and not to follow him; Tresdos was more than capable of killing the Assassins permanently in Heinous' employ. Shortly after, Tresdos lead one of three groups of Ferdan Elites against a Locust fort. The elites were able to kill 1,000 Locusts without a single casualty. During the Locusts' last stand at Ferdas, Tresdos continued to aid the Ferdan army by viciously slaughtering countless Locusts. Tresdos maintains that following his instincts keeps him alive; his instincts stopped him from killing an unconscious Visignis, and they led him out of Ferdas while Visignis' fire rain destroyed the city, and led him back shortly after. For the remainder of Tresdos' natural life, he and Visignis were close friends. Upon his death, Tresdos was granted access to Heaven thanks to intervention on the part of Cryodivus, who had kept a close eye on Visignis and those around him in Pyrodeus' stead.

When Heaven broke, Tresdos was one of thousands of angels who fell. With his free will restored, Tresdos harbored a deep resentment of God for smothering his ability to follow his instincts. Azrael created the ninth, and presumably last, of the Warrior Angels shortly afterward the angels had fallen. However, Tresdos was able to steal the black seal of Nocticertus before the angel was fully created. Wearing the seal gave Tresdos a fraction of the power, enough for him to consume it. Azrael was unable to stop the energy transfer, and all of Nocticertus' power was transferred into Tresdos.

Tresdos recently completed Magres Xerfal, giving him power on par with Pyrodeus and Cryodivus. Upon completion of the rite, he rewarded Messanger for his services in helping with the rite by imbuing his cloak with the ability to teleport, as well as a chalice of his own blood. This increased Messanger's power considerably, although the holy energy takes a toll on his body.

During the battle with Baalaose, Tresdos faced off against Cryodivus. Accessing his absolute limits of power, Cryodivus' colossal ice magic allowed him levels of cold that are impossible within the normal rules of physics. After becoming cold enough to freeze light, Cryodivus formed his sword of solid light. Between thousands of years' combat experience over Tresdos, making himself incalculably stronger, and accessing Tresdos' weakness via Magres Xerfal, the Warrior Angel of Darkness was simply outmatched. Cryodivus slew him, leaving his seal and weapons behind.

Weapons, Powers and Abilities
Tresdos has nearly limitless powers of dark manipulation. He can fire bursts of what he calls Inverse Energy, a black energy blast that absorbs light instead of emanating it. Tresdos can use Inverse Energy to snuff light, and has abilities of stealth rivaled only by Gisichros. Like all Warrior Angels, he can teleport using his elemental inclination.

Tresdos has incredible agility; as a human his speed and agility were matched only by Visignis, and upon receiving the power of a Warrior Angel his natural abilities were coupled with those of a Warrior Angel. Tresdos is able to diffuse his existence into the darkness surrounding Etrah at will, allowing him to observe several areas at once. When he does this, he is incapable of attack until reverting to his corporeal form; however he also can only be killed if all of the darkness around Etrah is purged (an impossible feat for anyone but God and, when using all of his power, possibly Pyrodeus).

Tresdos carries twin hookswords, infused with Inverse Energy allowing Tresdos to make them appear and disappear at will. He is skilled with the weapons; in life he was capable of inflicting immense pain and irreparable physical harm to humans with his weapons. With his new power, he is theoretically able to flay and dismember far greater entities as well.

Admin: /* Nephilim */

Half-Angels are any being who, whether through magical interference or mixed parenting, has partial angelic blood but is not fully angelic. Half-Angels are capable of a myriad of abilities, many of which are determined by the blood they share with another race. Angelic blood grants its users access to Heaven and, when at very great levels of strength, retractable angelic wings. If the half-angel has not already found a method of flight, the wings will grant them angelic flight.
It is also noteworthy that most half-angels, called nephilim, bare little resemblance to their human or angelic parents. With the exception of a very few, nephilim are prone to a handful of characteristics:
*The Nephilim Curse: Most nephilim are born with physical abnormalities not shared by angels of humans, such as horns, fangs, or disproportionately sized limbs such as very large arms. This is cause by the will of God, who forbids angels from leaving Heaven, let alone fornicating with humans. As punishment, their children almost invariably bear the Nephilim Curse. The curse will pass over the child of an angel with leave to set foot on Etrah, as was the case with Visignis (since Pyrodeus had entered Etrah to fight the Sons of Plunder when he had met Visignis' mother, Tamina).
*The Rule of Blood: Nephilim, like their angelic parents, stop aging physically by their mid-twenties. Nephilim physically younger than that, if they murder a human and make contact with its blood, will physically age by anywhere from 2 to as much as 5 years. Once fully realized (as physically matured as they will become within their lifetime), the Rule of Blood will still give a nephilim greater power.
*Violent Disposition: All nephilim who bare the Nephilim Curse are violent and aggressive at birth to the point of murderous tendencies, and quick to anger. While often inherent and unlikely to change, some nephilim with potentially peaceful dispositions are shunned for their physical abnormalities. This quickly sours their disposition, sometimes permanently. As a result of their rage, many nephilim damn themselves in spite of their angelic blood.(Note: While the vast majority of nephilim are quite bloodthirsty, a nephilim raised in a proper environment can become virtuous and friendly, in spite of still carrying the physical abnormalities.)
*Angelic power: All nephilim are capable of power nearing angelic-level. Nephilim will often be stronger than their parents who bore them, but their potential strength is shaped by the genetics of their parents. For example, an average angel and an average human who have a child will give birth to a nephilim with power much greater than its parents. However, in the case of Visignis, with a Warrior Angel for a father and a woman from a long line of warriors as a mother, will have power far greater than most other nephilim and even a great number of pure angels.

This page deals with standard demons, as in residents of Hell. For a specific type of demon, see Demonic Warlords, Sons of Plunder.

Demons are the denizens of Hell. They vastly outnumber the Angels in the BOA universe. More demons are created everyday as dark-hearted humans die and change into demons as they change planes from Etrah to Hell. Demons are almost always malevolent in nature, and seek any opportunity to escape Hell. However, those who do escape only seem to bring the evil with them, causing unrest and damage in the world they escape to. Unlike angels, all demons do not have wings; only high-level demons have a pair of bat-like wings on their backs. Once a demon finds the power to grow wings, they are largely ornamental; at that point, the wings themselves are of little aid in flight.

Demonic Warlords are the demons which lead armies of lesser demons in battle against the forces of good. Demonic Warlords have remarkable fighting prowess, and are notoriously difficult to kill. Guardians of the Gate are generally stronger than Demonic Warlords when at or near the gate to Heaven. One strong advantage Demonic Warlords have over Guardians of the Gate is that their power does not fluctuate from place to place. This allows them to attack the walls of Heaven, where Guardians of the Gate are often equal to or slightly weaker than Demonic Warlords, or on Etrah where Guardians of the Gate are nearly powerless.

This is a description of Sons of Plunder in general. For a list of Sons of Plunder, see Category:Sons of Plunder.
Sons of Plunder are a special type of Demonic Warlords in that their power is drawn from the environment around them. Pound for pound, Sons of Plunder are generally more powerful than Warrior Angels; however, only five Sons of Plunder have been created to date. A list can be found here. However, more could theoretically be created by Satan or Lotus (given that they were able to regain control of their respective regions of Hell.)
Scelumetus

129.89.185.222:

Scelumetus is the Warrior of Fear. Arguably the most powerful of the Sons of Plunder, Scelumetus has been dead for several millennia, his energy trapped inside Lucifer's pendant.
History
Approximately 8 millennia ago, the Archangels were charged with creating new Guardians of the Gate, able to battle at full strength regardless of distance from the gates of Heaven. Four of the five archangels (the exception being Azrael) created their own Warrior Angels in accordance with their elemental inclination. Gabriel created Hydrodurus, Michael created Pyrodeus, Raphael created Gisichros, and Uriel created Ventusamplus. This would even the balance of power from a strong advantage for Hell to a level playing field. However, Lucifer refused to allow Heaven such an advantage. He created five Sons of Plunder, enhanced Demonic Warlords, to destroy the Warrior Angels: Asteocasus, Ruentomors, Iterophasmos, Urobrontus, and Scelumetus. However, Lucifer was unaware that God had created four additional Warrior Angels: Cryodivus, Fulminerus, Silexops, and Aurumagnus. The Sons of Plunder were stronger pound for pound than the Warrior Angels; however, there were eight Warrior Angels to the five Sons of Plunder. Scelumetus was warded away from attacking Cryodivus when the Warrior Angel formed a ball of Absolute Zero energy: the ball had enough cold energy to keep even Pyrodeus trapped for several hours. Cryodivus used the ball for attack instead of defense later in the fight. Scelumetus became frozen inside, the extreme temperatures killing him instantly.
Weapons, Powers and Abilities
In an unusual contrast to the other Sons of Plunder or Warrior Angels, Scelumetus displays no unusual abilities of magic. He is able to incite panic, but the Warrior Angels were not susceptible to Scelumetus' only form of magic. However, his speed and strength were far greater than most fighters on the battlefield; only Silexops and Asteocasus were stronger physically, and only Ventusamplus was faster. Scelumetus' astonishing physical prowess proves more than enough to best many enemies with powerful magic at their disposal.

129.89.185.222:

Urobrontus is the Warrior of Thunder. Perhaps the least powerful of the Sons of Plunder, Urobrontus has been dead for several millennia, his energy trapped inside Lucifer's pendant.
History
Approximately 8 millennia ago, the Archangels were charged with creating new Guardians of the Gate, able to battle at full strength regardless of distance from the gates of Heaven. Urobrontus was incapacitated by a barrage of lightning bolts summoned by Fulminerus; unable to defend himself, an arrow from Fulminerus' bow struck his head, killing him.
Weapons, Powers and Abilities
Urobrontus can create and manipulate sound waves, allowing him to add shock waves of energy to his attacks. However, his abilities can be hindered by two Warrior Angels. Thunderclaps naturally attach to bolts of lightning; Fulminerus' unnatural, silent lightning absorbs Urobrontus' thunderclaps. Also, sound waves require air to travel through, allowing Ventusamplus to slow down or stop completely any sonic amplification caused by Urobrontus.

Iterophasmos is the Warrior Specter. The most ethereal of the Sons of Plunder, Iterophasmos has been dead for several millennia, his energy trapped inside Lucifer's pendant.
History
The Sons of Plunder were stronger pound for pound than the Warrior Angels; however, there were eight Warrior Angels to the five Sons of Plunder. Iterophasmos possessed Silexops during the battle, which eventually led to his downfall. Upon Iterophasmos losing body mass through attacks during his possession of Silexops, the regenerated body mass was Silexops' own gray stone, as opposed to the black onyx that Iterophasmos had created. Eventually Silexops took control long enough to tear off his own hands, summon a stone pillar to rest his head on, and use his abilities of stone manipulation to grip his hammer with the severed hands and crush his own head, killing Iterophasmos in the process.
Weapons, Powers and Abilities
Iterophasmos has unparalleled abilities of demonic possession. He is theoretically powerful enough to possess an archangel; however, doing so would only cause his downfall. Demons exorcised in Heaven are promptly destroyed by God. Iterophasmos is mostly ethereal in nature; physical damage has little or no effect on him. He is well in tune with the arcane, and is able to see souls. This allowed him to see Gisichros when he turned invisible.
The Sons of Plunder were stronger pound for pound than the Warrior Angels; however, there were eight Warrior Angels to the five Sons of Plunder. Asteocasus was the last Son of Plunder to fall. Cryodivus and Pyrodeus bombarded him with ice and fire energy simultaneously, able to maintain such exertion due to Fulminerus feeding them energy. The concentrated steam effectively cooked Asteocasus' bone armor, weakening him, and with no assistance he was no match for the combined powers of three Warrior Angels.
Weapons, Powers and Abilities
Asteocasus has nearly limitless abilities of bone manipulation. As such, he is able to manipulate his armor, create bludgeons and edge weapons, and armor of bone for himself or others. Asteocasus also has cosmic-level strength: he is the only entity known to be strong enough to fight Silexops hand to hand.

Ruentomors is the Warrior of Blood. Perhaps the most sadistic of the Sons of Plunder, Ruentomors has been dead for several millennia, his energy trapped inside Lucifer's pendant.
The Sons of Plunder were stronger pound for pound than the Warrior Angels; however, there were eight Warrior Angels to the five Sons of Plunder. Ruentomors possessed Hydrodurus during the battle, which eventually led to his downfall. Hydrodurus, freed from his imprisonment inside Ruentomors by an ice blast from Cryodivus, fired his buster cannon at both Ruentomors and himself. The hydration was pulled from both, killing Hydrodurus and turning Ruentomors to a chunk of scar tissue. Pyrodeus incinerated what remained of Ruentomors, killing him.
Weapons, Powers and Abilities
Ruentomors has nearly limitless abilities of blood manipulation. As such, he is able to manipulate his physiology to create bludgeons, edge weapons, and armor of blood for himself or others. His fluidic body allows him to flow out of the path of attacks, or allow projectiles to pass through him unscathed. However, Ruentomors must be either entirely solid or entirely fluid; he cannot allow objects to pas through him at the same time he swings an axe of blood, or the axe would simply splash onto his enemy. Conversely, if he maintains the rigidity of an axe, he is susceptible to physical damage on the same level as any solid entity.
