In the scene in which Mark talks to Julie about his wife, there is the interesting idea of quickly cycling a series of backgrounds called static1.png, static2.png, etc. Unfortunately, the text box briefly pops up between each background change, so the previous text flashes on screen. I doubt that effect was intentional.
