Surprisingly AHSCA only has .003% reported gay men contrary to 25% lesbian women.  The reason for statistics is still unknown but various speculations have come out through prominent AHSCA researchers.  One theory suggests that the disproportionate male-to-female ratio has lead further to the acceptance and openness to lesbianism among women who previously felt too scared to reveal themselves for fear of reprisal.  With women outranking men 3-1 and only growing it's suspected women may become fully bi.

Others suggest that the classic social structure of men has kept them in the dark and has few that reveal themselves.  However AHSCA does guarantee full LGBT rights for all despite allegations of a law that favors women over men.  There still remain no clear explanations for why the Lesbian culture has come out so strongly and openly while the Gay culture remains quiet and closed off and probably will never be.  Shoko Konno a Lesbian author from Aurora proposed that there are simply possibly no gay men on the islands be it through choice or stigma.

The Lesbian Culture of AHSCA is a significant portion of the lower lying islands particularly Corona. Since the end of the war more and more women and girls have felt easy about coming out with AHSCA's increased liberalism and openness. The forming of The National Lesbian Party helped propel the culture more onto mainstream and well accepted scene.

[edit] Notable People

AHSCA has had many noted Lesbians. The two obvious are the three founders of the NLP. Other's include authors, politicians and educators as well as Militia chiefs. All are noted for starters posing nude in their official photos with their partners. Neko leader Haruhi Suzumiya herself has also stated she is bisexual and has had a few female companions.

Karu and Xha Chuuchi are infamous for being the first two identified lesbian sisters to wed each other to some controversy but more praise from the LGBT community. They weren't the last shortly after step sisters Fala and Ming-An also wedded each other. The string of marriages led to a new law protecting those that wish to wed their family members.

Former Kurona citizens and artists Chikane and Himeko have also moved to the islands and reside on it. Both are notable for their pro lesbian films but both are now writing new Lesbian Literature.
