ADU Felina (Mira)

Felina (or Mira, as is their name for themselves in their traditional language), are a sentient bipedal cat people. They are a combative, competitve people in both mind and body; most are very shrewd, quick thinkers, and they are all very agile and very strong (physically stronger than many of the other races in the Dracounus). Most Felina are very ambitious in whatever endeavour they devote themselves to. In addition, they are characterized by a seemingly endless amount of boisterous energy, a very un-feline quality. This is largely in thanks to the unique qualities of their sleep cycles, which are far more restorative than a typical being's sleep, and their highly efficient metabolism. Researchers have surmised that their war-like culture made it advantageous to be on guard and ready to fight as often as possible. At one point in their history they were a multi-system empire, but after some initial struggle were peacefully initiated into universal society.

In modern times, they expend their energy in less destructive ways. The three most celebrated elements of Felina society are the government, the military, and the weapons/battle technology sector. The Felina government is a veritable maze of intricate political games, a challenge taken on by Felina politicians with great delight. The Felina military works both as a police force within the Felina nation, and cooperatively on a universal scale with the Dragons and the Gimshi. The military brass also organize and sponsor fighting tournaments wherever Felina are to be found, as everyone from the top government official to the merchant and the farmer enjoys participating in them during their free time. And yes, there are Felina farmers, for though agriculture is not necessarily a prided Felina cultural value, they still have to eat; even in peaceful times, the Felina are ever aware of what it takes to drive an army.

On occasion, a Felina will be born with a very primitive type of telepathy, allowing them to vaguely detect the feelings and emotions of those around them; other than these rare events, Felina have no telepathic/magical ability, but they more than make up for it with their advanced technologies. Their engineering companies often collaborate with Spinner and Elven companies on projects large and small, and are especially noted in their expertise when it comes to weapons design. And again, though not lauded as their greatest achievement, Felina engineers are also responsible for much of the technology used in the agricultural and domestic spheres across the Dracounus.

Felina vary widely in their builds, not unlike humans. They can be as short as four and a half feet, or as tall as six and a half or even seven feet. Some are stocky, some are more slender. All, however, are always remarkably strong for their size. Though bipedal their legs still maintain the remnants of a quadraped as they walk up on their toes with knees slightly bent. Because of this they are fairly nimble when moving on all fours, and this especially helps in climbing, something all Felina children take every possible chance to do. Their coats are just as variable as their builds, reflecting all manner of striped, spotted, and dappled patterns in a vast range of earth tones. Felina take great pride in richenss and beauty of their fur, and as such rarely wear clothing except in a functional sense, such as belts and harnesses. They do, however, enjoy accenting their fur with jewelry and other pieces of finery. But the goal is always to compliment, and not cover, their own natural coats.
