ADU Fairies
Fairies exist on almost every populated world in the Dracounus. They enjoy being around other, larger beings, and using their varied abilities to aid in the growth and maintenance of civilizations while ensuring that the natural world is respected during the process. They are not very magically/telepathically powerful, but they are extremely sensitive to the basic emotions of the creatures around them, especially those relating to pain, fear, and ill will. When they feel a particularly large amount of pain or maliciousness, they will let loose a unique, penetrating shriek. The people of the Dracounus learn to recognize this sound at a very young age, for it almost always indicates that something very bad is happening or is about to happen.
Other than this, Fairies are very difficult to understand. Either they can not or will not learn New Drahek, and communicate with each other using a variety of squeaks and chirps, many of which are outside of the sound range that is audible to most races. Very few have ever understood this language, and then only at a very basic level. To add to the confusion, Fairies often appear to act very nonsensical, and it was less than a thousand years ago when most people assumed they weren't even sentient.
Fairies range in size from a being a few inches to half a foot tall, and have very large cat-like eyes. Their wings resemble those of insects and vary widly in color and form. Their skin color also varies among many different earth tones. Most of their magical/telepathical abilities center around growth, and purification, and when using these abilities their whole bodies glow, often making them appear as motes of light.
A higher species of Fairies lives in the Alvarunus (created by K. Anderson), and they more closely resemble the average sentient being in behavior and dress.
