The Titan of Phazon

The Titan of Phazon is a Yoshi Bodyguards story arc involving the infection of Star World with Phazon, used by the nearly-destroyed Titan of Thunder, Sango, to be reborn. It is one of two continuation branches of The Dark Ages, as it features one of the primary antagonists from it. The story was done mostly by Yoshidot with some input from MDY, done over five different events lasting several months.

Anubis soon returned, remembering his promise to Asmodeus that he would watch over the YB.

As Anubis continued to age rapidly, he traveled to the frozen Loch Yoshiler where a group of gray wolves attacked him. He collapsed, but a snow-white wolf brought him to a kingdom made of ice and snow: the Ice Kingdom. He met the queen, a white wolf named Saarlos, who explained that Anubis was really Winmer, and that his mother had been murdered by the kingdom's mortal enemies who were experimenting with phazon. Anubis was then escorted back to the YB HQ.

Before long Amar returned, his fur stained with blood. He collapsed and died, and Anubis ran to the Ice Kingdom which had been under attack. He found it destroyed, and in his weakened physical state collapsed. He awoke in a place completely white save two blue eyes. Here he was given new powers and became Samael Winmer, a servant of the queen who had the ability to ascend to higher planes of existence. He had trouble keeping his new powers under control, though, leaving him unable to speak with the YBs for a little while.

Meanwhile, Koop went into the forest looking for Anubis, worried about his physical state. He came across the same pack of gray wolves that had attacked Anubis before; learning Anubis was alone, they went off to find him, though Saarlos took him away before they could find him. The leader, meanwhile, attacked Koop, injuring him; before the wolf killed him though, Noshum, a Shadow Creature the YB had met before Anubis had gone to the Ice Kingdom, arrived and fought off the wolf, after which he brought Koop back to the HQ.

A little while later a blue oho jee arrived at the HQ; soon after the Phazon-Anubis returned, and with Anubis' new powers was much less of a match. The oho jee jumped on the Phazon-Anubis, though, and they recognized each other as sources of phazon. Though the oho jee absorbed some phazon from the Phazon-Anubis, Anubis separated it with a light shield. He learned from Phazon-Anubis who created it, and then killed it by snapping its neck.

Anubis let the oho jee free to examine it, as it ran over to the Phazon-Anubis' corpse and began to devour it. It mutated into a horrible creature, but Anubis blocked it from attacking the YB with a light shield. Unable to do anything, it left, and came across some Yoshi Clone scouts it attacked. Getting a report of this, PB went after it and fought it; he did little, but was able to enrage it with attacks enough that it literally exploded from anger. A few strange creatures then attacked PB with advanced weaponry

Koop had gathered information on phazon from the Phazon-Anubis and began work on a prototype rifle that could damage phazon-mutated creatures and a suit that was resistant to phazon. He wanted to test-run it and located a phazon-mutant at Yoshi's Island, so some YBs headed there to fight it. The creature turned out to be a monstrous, mutated shy guy who destroyed Koop's ship. During the fight, however, a meteorite made of phazon appears in the sky and hits the mutant shy guy, mutating it further and increasing its size dramatically to thirty feet tall. They were able to incapacitate the shy guy, though, and Koop tried to calm it down to get the phazon's effects out of its head.

About this time another shy guy appeared who referred to the mutated one as his sister. Koop tried to use his phazon-based inventions to cure the mutated shy guy, Shirl, but they overloaded and exploded, infecting Koop and the other shy guy, Shuy, with phazon. Anubis arrived and opened a portal to bring them back to the HQ where Koop placed Shuy in a containment field he had designed.

Meanwhile, the YB HQ was attacked by a troop of Space Pirates, doing a large amount of damage to the HQ.

Trivia

• Strangely enough, pretty much all the stories unrelated to the arc that took place while it was going on were done by Duth. Go figure.
