Shnalk Serpolm is an Opheodrys (or "green snake") from Rareworld. He's a private detective who often solves crimes in and around Jolly Roger's Lagoon (where his office is located), and occasionally does some investigative work elsewhere, sometimes for television studios. He has an assistant named Scurf (or, formally, Dr. Scurf), who has a rival named Dr. Snap, and so Shnalk considers Dr. Snap as one of his foes.

History
Shnalk Serpolm: Private Investigator
Shnalk Serpolm was born in Bubblegloop Swamp, but at a young age his parents moved to Jolly Roger's Lagoon. As a child, Shnalk enjoyed reading detective novels, and discovered he had a knack himself for solving mysteries. Eventually, he became a private investigator with his own office in Jolly Roger's Lagoon; soon after, he obtained an assistant named Dr. Scurf. The two became known fairly well in Jolly Roger's Lagoon, but their most unexpected case would come when the local pawn shop, owned by Pawno, was robbed.
When Shnalk and Dr. Scurf went to investigate, they found that Pawno's description matched Dr. Scurf! After a few more similar crimes, Dr. Scurf was arrested. Trying to discover the truth behind the crimes, Shnalk was approached by a local gypsy fortune teller, Chimeck, who said that she has forsaw that Dr. Scurf was not the criminal, and that he had an important piece of evidence. Shnalk visited Dr. Scurf in jail, and learned he had found an apple leaf at the scene of the first crime. Shnalk was able to persuade the police to let Dr. Scurf go as long as he was under constant survillance.
When another crime was commited, it proved Dr. Scurf was not the one behind them and his name was cleared. Needing to find the true criminal, they questioned Chimeck, who discerned where the next target would be. They held a stakeout, and caught the fake in action, who revealed to be Dr. Snap, who considered himself Dr. Scurf's rival (despite Scurf never meeting him before). Dr. Snap attempted to turn into a beast and attack them, but was pitifully weak and defeated.
Times later, Shnalk and Dr. Scurf were approached by Plotumentary Inc. to gather information on a supposed shooting in Terrydactyland some years prior. They learned about the Raptor Trio, a trio of raptors that lived at Terrydactyland and disappeared one day years prior. There was evidence of a possible shooting, but what they didn't disclose was an eyewitness (as there wasn't enough information to go on it) that claimed they had been shot in the heart.
Sometime later, Dr. Scurf returned from shopping one day to exclaim that the leader of the Raptor Trio, Ripvor, was at the lagoon. Shnalk and Dr. Scurf went to him and explained what had happened to the other members of the Raptor Trio, and learning this, Ripvor dashed off in a hurry, leaving Shnalk and Dr. Scurf to wonder exactly what had happened.
