South Sudan Unity state bombing: UN calls for inquiry

UN human rights chief Navi Pillay has called for an investigation into the bombing of a refugee camp in South Sudan, which became independent in July,Why we quit Australia for the UK.

The UN has accused Sudan of carrying out the attack in oil-rich Unity state, just south of the border.

Khartoum, which is fighting pro-southern rebels on its side of the frontier, denies the allegation.

South Sudanese officials say at least 12 people were killed in the air raid,Louis Vuitton buys Swiss watchmaker for undisclose.

Ms Pillay said there needed to be an independent and credible investigation into Thursday's bombing of the Yida camp, which was witnessed by the 's James Copnall.

"If indeed it is established that an international crime or serious human rights violation has been committed, then those responsible should be brought to justice," she is quoted by Reuters as saying.

However, Sudan Armed Forces spokesman Sawarmi Khaled Saad vehemently denied any links to the raid.

"This information is completely false. We didn't bomb any camps or any areas inside the borders of South Sudan," he told the AFP news agency.

Thousands of people have fled fighting in Sudan's South Kordofan region and crossed the border to take refuge at the Yida camp.

Sudan's army has often been accused of bombing South Kordofan, where it is facing a rebellion from pro-southern groups,Gucci - Restore The Fashion_456.

The South Sudan Liberation Army rebel group is also active in Unity State - it denies claims that it is working for Khartoum in order to destabilise its neighbour.

Miabek Lang, the commissioner of Pariang county in Unity state, said at least 12 people had been killed and 20 wounded in the bombing.

The 's James Copnall in Unity state says he arrived at the camp at about 12:00 GMT on Thursday as a second round of bombs hit.

He says that just as a UN helicopter, carrying food aid, settled on to a makeshift landing zone at the camp, there was a deep and terrifying thud of a nearby explosion.

A large plane was spotted heading to the north, our reporter says.

Several residents of the refugee camp told him it was an Antonov plane, often used by the Sudanese government as a makeshift bomber,Hervé Léger Bandage Dress d'ambiance.

The refugees said the plane had circled before launching two bombing raids.

Five bombs were dropped, of which four exploded, they told our correspondent.

Incidents like this, and both sides' belief that the other is sponsoring rebels on their territory, are contributing to a rapidly deteriorating relationship between Sudan and South Sudan, he says.

South Sudan's independence in July was the culmination of a peace deal that ended a decades-long north-south civil war.

Scottish law firms Morton Fraser and Macdonalds merge

Morton Fraser and Macdonalds Solicitors have become the latest Scottish law firms to merge.

The combined company, which will operate under the name of Morton Fraser,Christian Louboutin, Christian Louboutin Shoes Sal, is expected to have an annual turnover of more than ?17m.

Their deal involves Glasgow-based Macdonalds moving to larger offices in the city's St Vincent Street to accommodate 13 partners and 70 staff.

The combined firm has 40 partners and a total of more than 270 employees.

The transaction follows a series of other legal mergers in Scotland.

Last year, commercial law firms Burness and Paull and Williamsons announced they would join forces, while Edinburgh-based Archibald Campbell and Harley merged with English legal firm Shoosmiths.

A year ago, McGrigors said it would merge with London-based international firm Pinsent Masons, while Fyfe Ireland also announced a tie-up with Tods Murray,Obama pulling away from Romney in polls but Mideast looms_439.

Macdonalds' client base includes national and local house builders, life assurance companies, pension providers and charities.

The firm also has a major debt recovery and litigation practice, acting for banks and finance houses.

It runs offices in the capital as well as Glasgow and London.

Naked Prince Harry photos published online

Pictures showing Prince Harry and a young woman naked in a Las Vegas hotel room have been published on a US website.

The two photos of the 27-year-old royal, on gossip website TMZ, were taken on a private break with friends over the weekend.

The site reported that the prince was in a group playing "strip billiards".

St James's Palace has confirmed the prince is in the photos but has made no further comment about the images.

The two pictures of the prince are thought to have been taken on Friday.

The website claims the pictures came after the prince, who is third in line to the throne, invited friends back to his hotel room for a private party.

It is not clear how the photos were taken, but it is presumed they were captured on a camera phone.

The pictures have since been picked up by much of the American media, but as yet have not been printed by any British newspaper.

The father of one of Prince Harry's closest friends told the 's The World at One the prince was "a very easy target" for the press.

Alex van Straubenzee, whose son Thomas has known the prince since childhood, said that "more than anything [Harry] is a British soldier".

The emergence of the pictures is the latest colourful incident in Prince Harry's life.

In 2005, there was widespread outrage when an image of the prince attending a friend's fancy dress birthday dressed as a Nazi emerged.

And in 2009, Prince Harry was forced to apologise for using offensive language to describe an Asian member of his army platoon after video footage emerged.
