Folks, its not a bad as it seems.  There is a disable for the gas pedal.  Its caelld the brake.  Snarky Comment Ahead'Does Mercedes make a car that will potentially enable you to post more than three days a week?  Not being a (complete and total) ass, but things have been pretty slim here lately, just wondering what is up. Things seemed to really fall off the scale after JJ left.  Other gadget sites are burying yall with their volume.  Given this time of year, and the abundance of new tech flowing out, it just seems odd BBG seems like a ghost town.  I know you mentioned weeks ago that you had something in the works; so I assume for now that Rachel the RealDoll has arrived.  Otherwise, is BBG headed to that great box of ones and zeros in the sky?  I used to admire greatly the abundantly absurd prose that was applied to even the most mundane gadget post.  I miss BBG.

i certainly miss joel.  bronlwee too, for that matter, though it's been a while on that note. looking forward to things picking up a bit!more on-topic: this seems sort of like the lexus that parallel-parks itself. i don't want it or need it, but my boss's wife is gonna go nuts about it.  anything that makes driving less like a responsibility and more like being chaufeurred.

I'll be all over the Popeye stuff too. Funny you mention him, I just bohgut a Popeye frame recently for my kitchen. As for things that I hope to see down the line (wishful thinking probably) would be an entire Hanna-Barbera line of merchandise, that I could find at a brick & mortar store and not scour the internet and 20 different Web sites. I'm still into the DCU Classics line, and probably more so now because my nephew is starting to get into them somewhat. He's been coming over my place for a couple of years to just play with them, but now wants some figures of his own. He loves the Lego Batman game (there really should be a comic)and wants the characters in the game. I've actually given him figures from my collection (some that I really liked too), while buying others. Trying not to spoil the kid, but I love the enthusiasm he shows for it. Bought him a container so he can store them & keep them in one place. I was willing to give him more figures, but he just wanted these particular ones. Down the line, I'll probably give him figures from waves I don't really care for but just want the collect n connect figure. As for me, I'm into most of the lines/waves thus far. Maybe one line out of how many I really couldn't get into (Trigon figure wave). I just one day would love for Mattel to make a Superfriends-style Bizarro. That's the one hope that keeps me looking, keeping me excited for every new wave announcement. Perhaps it's a false hope, don't know.

Effectively we're look at the death of the traditional copllhene, or at least the merging of the idea of a copllhene and PDA. In some ways I find that a pity. I'm a copllhene luddite. I want no more than the ability to make/receive calls, and very occasionally text message. It's great to have an extended user-friendly functionality as a general principle. In terms of mobile technology I do wonder how often its used. I'd love to see some statistics of how much iPhone users utilise the functions of their handset beyond phone/text/music.I'm curious as to how much of that is down to the user experience which does need a rethink as you suggest and how much is down to the fact that the majority of cell phone users generally aren't that interest in functionality beyond a phone ( and possibly looking cool').
