General Motor's Strategy is General Motors way of staying a competitive automobile manufacturer.

- No model can be used for more than 30 consecutive years. That is why the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Bonneville were discontinued. Also why the Chevrolet Cavalier was renamed the Chevrolet Cobalt.
- Make matching manufacturers front ends look the same. That is why the font end of a current Chevrolet Aveo will just snap on to a Chevrolet Malibu.
- Badge engineering - Buying a foreign car (Toyota Matrix) and replace their names with your names and then sell it as a different car (Pontiac Vibe). Examples: Chevrolet Aveo, Holden Barina, Pontiac Wave, Suzuki Swift, and Daewoo Kalos are all the same car and all made by General Motors.
- Market demands - When a different company introduces a new car or truck or van or energy drink, General Motors pays close attention to how the public reacts to the product. If the product seems like it will benefit General Motors, then they begin plans to make their own version. (examples: Ford Ranchereo/Chevrolet El Camino, Ford Mustang/Chevrolet Camaro/Pontiac Firebird).
