Richards Motor Company (RMC) is an Ameican car manufacturer. RMC is currently owned by Am-Kor Motors.
History
Richards Motor Company was formed in 1955 by EJR Manufacturing. By 1957 a prototype was created called the RMC Mark 1. The Mark ! was a lower lever luxury car. However, RMC Motors decided to delay production.
A redesigned version was completed in early 1964 called the RMC-2. This version was a more midsized car. However, with the introduction of the pony car, RMC decided to join the fight and canceled the RMC-2.
The RMC Hurricane was relieved in 1967 and the reception was positive. RMC planed to release the Hurricane by 1969. However, several factors delayed the process and the car was slightly redesigned. By 1971, the RMC Hurricane was ready for production. Production was planed for mid 1972. However, the muscle car market was beginning to slow down and RMC started to worry about the future. The Hurricane became delayed again until 1973. Finally, due to market problems the RMC Hurricane was canceled. RMC was closed in 1975.
In 2001, EJR Manufacturing wanted to expand into the vehicle market again but plans were set aside. In 2004, EJR Manufacturing registered the Richards Motor Company as a new company. Designing of the new vehicle began in 2006. Several designs were thought of and EJR Manufacturing eventually decided to make a car that would rival the new Mustang and Camaro. Soon after, EJR decided to name the car the RMC Hurricane.
By mid 2008, gas prices were at record highs and RMC realized that it would be a poor time to put the Hurricane into production. The Hurricane was put on delay again and still is. The RMC Hurricane has yet to be reviled to the public and it is rumored that a working full size version was made and is located at a EJR Manufacturing plant.
RMC Charge
In early 2009 a deal was made with Korean So Motors to sell the new So EC-1 in North America as the RMC Charge.
It was announced in February that the RMC Charge will be mostly built in Korea in the existing So Car Plant. The parts will be sent to the United States. A new RMC Manufacturing Plant will be opened in the future where the Charge will be finished being built. Instead of opening dealerships, the RMC Charge will be sold at existing Jayatsu dealerships.
