Kim So passed away in August 1997. His company was purchased by Am-Kor Limited, a business owned by American Alex Michaels and Korean Han Lee. In 1998, Am-Kor was merged with So Manufacturing and the name was changed to So International.

So Industrial Equipment Ltd.

So Industrial Equipment Ltd. is So's division of heavy equipment. The company was founded in 1978 by Chan Yoon. The company was purchased in 1988 by Am-Kor. The company was renamed So Industrial Equipment in 1999. In 2001, So Industrial began making the engine for the So Shi-Tei. Chan Yoon was CEO of the company until 2004 when he retired.
