Guitar Hero is a popular series of music video games published by RedOctane and Activision. The first game was released in 2005. The series is notable for its use of a guitar-shaped controller to simulate the playing of music, represented on-screen by colored notes that correspond to fret buttons on the controller. The games support both individual play, as well as cooperative and competitive modes for two players.

Guitar Hero
Guitar Hero wase developed by Harmonix Music Systems and published by RedOctane for the PlayStation 2 video game console. It is the first entry in the Guitar Hero series. Guitar Hero was released on November 8, 2005 in North America, April 7, 2006 in Europe and June 15, 2006 in Australia.
Guitar Hero II
Guitar Hero II was developed by Harmonix Music Systems and published by RedOctane. It is the second installment in the Guitar Hero series and is the sequel to Guitar Hero. It was first released for the PlayStation 2 in November 2006 and then for the Xbox 360 in April 2007. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was developed by Neversoft (for the console versions) and Aspyr Media (for computer versions) and published by Activision and RedOctane. It is the third full installment in the Guitar Hero series (and the fourth title overall). Guitar Hero III was first released for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac platforms in late 2007.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is the fifth entry in the Guitar Hero series of video games, featuring music from the band Aerosmith and similar artists. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is an expansion of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and is being developed by Neversoft and distributed by Activision. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is expected to be released during June 2008.
