As advancement in the study of magic progressed, hundreds of ruins were discovered around the world, dating back to time periods that historians had never even considered. Of the several artifacts found within these ruins, the most informative were books and records made by the ancient civilizations. Volumes of information were uncovered - including long-forgotten methods of casting magic using incantations found in ancient tomes. Few, however, have the knowledge required to translate the ancient tongues in these books, but those that do are a force to be reckoned with.&lt;br /&gt;

Something allowing the unit to use higher levels as different classes in conjunction with Studying?&lt;br /&gt;

=Notes=&lt;br /&gt;
Scholars can only cast spells of the levels they have learned. All spells take 0 MP except when used with Index, which randomly selects spells three times and then casts them (The spells are randomly chosen before the unit selects where to cast each individual one). Each book has a set of spells - they can have multiple spells on a single level to make up for the lack of higher levels. Each book also can have a Reaction spell that can be used as a &amp;quot;Counter&amp;quot; of sorts.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The heavy restrictions on books and skill setups for Scholars soften the game-breaking power of such a class - it requires a mastery, support, and a book equipped to get any serious use out of Scholars when they aren't your main or sub job.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
=Scholar as a Main Job=&lt;br /&gt;
Scholars are okay as a main job - their magical power and magical resistance growth are both good, although on the physical side they are severely weakened. Used in conjunction with another magic-oriented class such as [[Wizard]] or [[Elementalist]], the Scholar can become a mage who can cast his main spells for free, but is open to other options if they arise. Note that the only downfall to Scholars is that they have horrid MP growth, as they do not need it.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
=Scholar as a Sub Job=&lt;br /&gt;
Scholars are an amazing sub job for magic users, but horrible for melee users. Magical users can use books for backup spells when they are low on MP, and gain great benefits from the increased Magic Power and Resistance stat bonuses. Melee characters, if they take the time to climb up the magic tree to even reach scholars, will find no use in Scholars, because they require books to be equipped, disallowing the use of swords and other such weapons that melee characters require. This isn't worth it anyway, as the requirements for the Scholar class will mold a unit into a more magic-oriented role anyway.&lt;br /&gt;

Each book also can have a Reaction spell that can be used as a &amp;quot;Counter&amp;quot; of sorts.&lt;br /&gt;

The heavy restrictions on books and skill setups for Scholars soften the game-breaking power of such a class - it requires a mastery, support, and a book equipped to get any serious use out of Scholars when they aren't your main or sub job.&lt;br /&gt;

Scholars are okay as a main job - their magical power and magical resistance growth are both good, although on the physical side they are severely weakened. Now nearly every shirt and pair of pants on the planet is enchanted with this spell and suddenly bullets became almost entirely ineffective. Yet the spell works on mass and the slender but long arrows used by the bow is relatively unaffected. Many believe that it is only a matter of time before a stronger warding magic is developed, but in the meantime Archers became the undisputed masters of ranged combat.&lt;br /&gt;

More conventionally an Archer makes use of its debuffing abilities and Manyshots to pepper lower than average but consistant and ranged damage from a nice safe spot.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
=Archer as a Main Job=&lt;br /&gt;
Archers as main jobs have a couple of options. They can sub Hunter or Rogue and be a true expert at fast agile ranged damage. They can put some time into jobs with high strength like Soldier and deal higher damage from afar. Whatever they do, they need to be careful, becuse their HP and MP will always be deeply subpar.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
=Archer as a Sub Job=&lt;br /&gt;
With very poor HP and MP growth Archer doesn't make a good sub for anyone in the thick of things or mages that rely on MP. Also, many of their most useful abilities are weapon range, so unless their main job has a ranged weapon equipped a lot of their moves are rather worthless. Hunters can sub Archer for additional ranged options and debuffs, and Rogue / Archer can be a nasty oportunist from afar, combining the natural accuracy of both jobs, manyshot, and sneak attack.&lt;br /&gt;

More conventionally an Archer makes use of its debuffing abilities and Manyshots to pepper lower than average but consistant and ranged damage from a nice safe spot.&lt;br /&gt;

Archers as main jobs have a couple of options. They can sub Hunter or Rogue and be a true expert at fast agile ranged damage. They can put some time into jobs with high strength like Soldier and deal higher damage from afar. Whatever they do, they need to be careful, becuse their HP and MP will always be deeply subpar.&lt;br /&gt;

With very poor HP and MP growth Archer doesn't make a good sub for anyone in the thick of things or mages that rely on MP. Hunters can sub Archer for additional ranged options and debuffs, and Rogue / Archer can be a nasty oportunist from afar, combining the natural accuracy of both jobs, manyshot, and sneak attack.&lt;br /&gt;

Elemenalists are great as a main job. With both high magic potency and high max MP they'll have great stat growth in the fields that let them do what they do best; cast painful elemental spells. Tack on  sub job like wizard for additional flexibility or medic to protect the front or back lines when things get rough and you'll have a very potent mage. Characters wanting to get their magic potency stat up will find this a fast and entertaining route.&lt;br /&gt;

The raw power of an elementalist makes a better main job then sub, but if subbed on a job that gets strong magic potency growth it will add a lot of damage potential. A wizard / elementalist or time mage / elemetalist can be quite dangerous. While at first glance it may seem like a great sub for melee jobs like Soldier or Paladin (all the melee of Soldier, all the magic of elementalist?) most melee jobs don't have the magic potency growth to keep the elementalist's spells strong.&lt;br /&gt;
