Personally I like the magic commands that help make IPython an even better substitute for other scripting languages than vanilla Python. IPython also makes it easy to pass values to and from other processes. The only real down side I can see to using IPython specific features in scripts is that it makes them less portable to systems that do not have IPython installed.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
