Districting

Nomicapolis shall be regarded as a city-state to be divided into nine cantons. These cantons shall be named as follows:

  • North Canton
  • South Canton
  • East Canton
  • West Canton
  • Northeast Canton
  • Northwest Canton
  • Southeast Canton
  • Southwest Canton
  • Center Canton

Cantons may be referred to by additional or alternate names only as the rules permit.

The borders of each canton shall be initially drawn such that they share a border with three and only three other cantons: the center canton, and the two adjacent cantons as implied by their compass names.

Population

When new Citizens of Nomicapolis are created, and no rule otherwise specifies their residency, these new citizens shall be distributed equally amongst all cantons except the Center Canton. Any citizens remaining after this assignment shall become residents of the Center Canton.

Each Citizen of Nomicapolis is considered to be a resident of a single canton. At the time of this proposal's passage, each Canton except for the Center Canton shall be populated with 6,500 citizens. The Center Canton, understood to be the administrative center of Nomicapolis, shall be populated from the remaining 500 citizens. Should more than 52,500 citizens exist at the time of this proposal's passage, the remaining citizens shall be distributed as though they were new citizens. If the population of Nomicapolis has shrunk below 52,500 citizens, sufficient immigrants will be added to bring the population up to 52,500.
