  • Minet CP: Wryneck at 12.05, park in car park at Springfield Road and follow footpath to pond to view wet channel (Birdguides). Showed well at 13.30 at bottom of ditch 50 yds past bridge south of pond on west side of country park (Peter Naylor); still present at 17.20hrs (Birdguides). Last seen at 1745 when it flew into ivy from ditch, south of pond (Bob Watts).

  • East India Dock NR: Barred Warbler (1st-winter) in NE corner in Hawthorn hedge in between road and reedbed, c.10m west of gate in railings at 0740 & 0825 - showed well for ten minutes, preening and feeding; also Kingfisher, 49 Teal, 3 Chiffchaffs, 3 Grey Wagtails, 3 Little Grebes (David Callahan).   • Hilfield Park Reservoir Nature Reserve: Laughing Gull was not seen in the roost last evening (though two 1w Med' Gulls were seen), Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust will be providing access again this evening from 18.30 to 20.00. Entrance 300m down Hilfield Lane from A41. £1 donation for conservation work at the Reserve requested. Access to the Reserve will not be available over the weekend but viewing will be available from the viewpoint off Dagger lane (Tim Hill, HMWT).

  • Hilfield Park Reservoir: No sign of the 2w Laughing Gull in the roost this evening but two 1st winter Med Gulls were seen. Access: The reserve will be opened between 1830 and 1930 ONLY on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd September. Entrance is 300 yards down Hilfield Lane from A41. Thereafter, viewing will ONLY be from viewpoint off Dagger Lane. Donation of £1 requested for Herts & Middx Wildlife Trust (Herts Bird club website).

  • Temple Mills 11:15 Large Raptor picked up low going North, seen from A12 with no bins. 15 minutes later after seeing all the Crows go crazy picked it up over the house in Leyton still going North, towards walthamstow reservoirs very slowly, circling and getting mobbed. Flat wings, long tail, prominent head and neck and with a bit of squinting some feint barring on axilliaries and flanks, a mid-phase bird, I'm fairly happy with Honey Buzzard.
