Springfield

• Weyerhaeuser opened their Springfield Mill.

• New elementary schools were built: Maple, Goshen, Camp Creek.

• In 1949, Guerrier built a $650,000 mill to replace their earlier plant lost in a fire (Springfield News 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949).

• An appliance store joined the Pay ‘N Takit and Springfield’s first Dairy Queen opened at 19th and Main in 1949 (a new Dairy Queen opened on Main between 8th and 9th Streets in 1951) (Springfield News 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951).
