He married Mary Ann STOUT on 28 Sep 1843 but she was no longer in the picture four years later because he married Mary Ellen Scott on 3 Oct 1847.

Date of Death may have been Mar 28 ( per Debra Newton records). Died aged 65.

James McPherson died at his residence in Eugene City, Oregon, Monday, March 23, 1885, aged about 65 years, from the effects of a cancer. Deceased was the father of P. J. McPherson, assessor of this county, and leaves several other children, some grown and some quite small. He was a good citizen and leaves on honerable name among a wide circle of friends, where he has been long and favorably known. [Oregon Journal, Eugene City, Ore 1885]
