Although you can use the standard Mac OS X JAVA communications library it is recommented to use slightly different version.

There are three parts to the installation process.

1 Remove Old Versions

2 Install Comm Library

3 Install RXTX

Full details on at New Comm Library for MacOS X

There have been cases where users have had problems with throwing turnouts using JMRI and Lenz LS100/LS150s where the turnout commands are sent for too long. It is advised that you connect bulbs or similar to the LS100/LS150 while setting up so that there is no chance of burning out your turnouts.
