-- Both in research and in the BA/MA study programs of the Institute of Asian and African studies, the future staff member has to cover the theme of transformation, especially the political-economic transition of socialist systems towards the market economy, including its socio-cultural implications. The applicant has to specialise on societal transformation in Southeast Asia (mainland), in addition possess competence on one other region of Asia/Africa as well as on transregional aspects of transformation. Good command of at least on language of mainland Southeast Asia is expected. Required are substantial experience in teaching and research; key publications; an excellent international contact network; an interest in interdisciplinary cooperation and comparative questions.
