-- OBJECTIVES: The program focuses on a series of professional visits and appointments with local experts and leaders in the Fellow's field. It also includes cultural sites and hospitality by citizens of that country. Those selected are provided overseas exposures of 4-7 weeks carefully designed to enhance their professional and personal growth, develop new contacts, and promote the exchange of ideas and international understanding. They have meetings with local experts and leaders in their field, as well as cultural site visits and hospitality by local citizens, all arranged by a local program coordinator with help from Eisenhower alumni Fellows.

In 2010, Eisenhower Fellowships will conduct an international Women's Leadership Program. To tie the 2010 USA Fellows to this program, preference will be given to women candidates in agriculture; and women candidates from our Philadelphia, Research Triangle, St. Louis and New England, recruiting areas. If selected to participate in the Women's Leadership Program, the USA Fellow will join with women from China, India, Indonesia, Ireland/Northern Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Turkey, and the United States.

The following destinations are available for 2010: Africa: South Africa; Asia: China, China (Taiwan), India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia; Europe: European Commission (Brussels) Germany, Ireland, Russia, Sweden; Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay; Middle East: Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia; Oceania: Australia, New Zealand.

-- ELIGIBILITY: Eligible applicants are mid-career professionals with five ten years of demonstrated exemplary leadership, as well as an expectation of at least 15-20 years of higher level leadership contributions, thus a preferred age range of 35-42. Applicants must have a demonstrated impact in the individual's professional field, as evidenced by rapid advancement and significant accomplishment within the person's institutional and regional context. Active leadership in broader professional/community activities, demonstrating a concern for improving society beyond one's own basic job focus is also required. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

-- FUNDING: A Fellow's spouse is invited and encouraged to participate (children are not permitted on this program). Expenses covered during the Fellowship include: round trip international airfare, domestic travel, and a stipend to cover the hotels and meals for Fellow and spouse.
