Leather Armor

Leather armor is typically made of soft leather reinforced with cloth padding, or later with metal rings or rivets. Hard leather is typically thick leather boiled into stiff plates which are then pieced together similar to metal plate armor, known as cuir bouilli (French for "boiled leather"). In CK, these armors will be typically be protecting your lightest troops, although if you have no research in metal armors at all, you can have knights in hard leather!

Soft Leather (Level 1):
Archers, Militia, Horse Archers: Armor 5
Knights, Light Cavalry, Heavy Infantry, Pikemen: Armor 6

Reinforced Leather (Level 2):
Archers, Militia, Horse Archers: Armor 6
Knights, Light Cavalry, Heavy Infantry, Pikemen: Armor 7

Boiled Leather (Level 3):
Knights: Armor 8
All others: Armor 7

Rigid Leather (Level 4):
All units: Armor 8

Scaled Leather (Level 5):
All units: Armor 9
