You figure you'll need a place to stay first so you can take your time to consider your options on what you're gonne do from here on out.
You walk around town and collect information on what's available where.
A studio is still available after the school term has allready started, seems they dropped the price some as there aren't really any students looking anymore now. It's little more than a bed but it'll do to keep you dry and warm. It's located in a decent part of town and there's a convenience store and a large bus station nearby so you should be able to get anywhere in the city pretty easily. It's 450$ a month.
There's a house in the city suburbs for rent, they seem to be hiring the rooms individually. There's 6 rooms in total, all but one of whom are taken. You'd have 2 young guys, 1 middle-aged man, 1 girl a few years older than you and a recently wed couple living in the same house. The room looks pretty nice and they left all the heavy furniture, so you'd have everything you had back in your old room. The price seems a bit on the low side for what's offered, and it mentions the family relocated because of some local troubles.. It's 600$ a month
There's also an appartment complex in the poor district that still has some places available, seems like little more than a glorified trailerpark. There's only a public restroom and mixed bathing. the whole place looks run-down and might have some shady individuals lurking around. It's cheap tho - only 300$ per month.
A seedy bar is renting out it's rooms upstairs. the bar is run by a lone widower and has 7 other lodgers, all single males between 25 and 40. the place looks pretty run down and is located in a poor area. It also seems to be frequented by bikers. doesn't sound like a safe place for a girl to hang out, tho you might actually enjoy being unsafe. The rent is extremely cheap at only 150$ a month.
An old run-down mansion at the edge of the city is recruiting a housekeeper. Rent is free if you keep the mansion in a more or less decent state and keep undesirables from moving in. It's a pretty large mansion and this sounds like it might be quite a job for one person, but it seems the offer extends to 'up to five people'. There's nothing mentioned about anyone else taking up the offer yet though. It'd be a free place to stay but might keep you too busy to look for a job unless some other people move in and help you out.
Finally, a rich old man in a wealthy villa outside the city is recruiting live-in maids. He doesn't seem to have had any success as of yet. he's offering 2000$ a month and all living expenses will be taken care of. You're expected to be available at the master's call at any time of the day (or night). It mentions the old man is bound to a wheelchair, so he isn't too likely to be able to take advantage of you unless you let him. There's a housekeeper who cleans the house and stuff during the day so your duties would mostly be only to assist the master's own person.
