You grit your teeth and punch your boosters, surging forward towards the pirate corvette. Sure enough, the lasers begin to spray towards you, but your ship is quick enough to avoid their arc of fire. You launch a barrage of your own, and you're satisfied to see a scattering of small explosions on the hull; no shields on this ship!

Your celebration is short-lived, however. As you cut underneath the ship, a huge cannon swivels towards you; a beam weapon! Crackling plasma surges forward with a monstrous noise, a huge long beam of death that swings around like a sword, easily slicing through your cockpit and vaporizing anyone inside.
