Cold sweat throbs across your sideburns as the sound grow louder.
"Mum, RUN!" you yell. "There's som-"
But before you could finish your sentence, a burst of laughter interrupts your little 'warning'.
"Oh, silly dear," your father pats your head, before squatting down towards the base of the car and tilts his head a little so that he could take a better look at the source of the rumble. "It's just a little-"
Before you know it, your Dad's sentence was cut off, too. Including his head.
Hurriedly, you turn around, running off without even waiting for your Mum or Alex. Only after running 30 feet away from your car do you realize your abandonment. You turn back, but no one is there at the car anymore. No one. Not even the thing, whatever it is that just had your Dad's head for supper.
